I forgot we scored six both of those games. We haven't scored 6 against an eastern conference opponent though. Especially one we haven't had a lot of success over recently and one where the goalie's career he's never lost to us in regulation. But you know... Those are just facts... - bluengold12
Who gives a flying (frank)? Seriously? The Western conference tends to be the stronger of the two and typically plays a more defensive style game. So what exactly is your point?

No. We tend to play well against the west coast teams for some reason the past two years. I have no idea why. Just happens. Edmonton hasn't played defensive hockey since the 80's...

Going to bet pretty much every GM in the league would disagree with that statement. - bluengold12
Have you actually watched Lundqvist this year? If I have to pick between a goalie that's almost 35 making $8.5 mil and a guy that's only 29 and makes $4.1 to start my franchise, I'm picking the younger cheaper guy.

His numbers aren't terrific this year thus far but he's still a very good goalie. I just don't think Talbot is overall the better goalie.

The amount of miles and the cost there isn't a GM in the league that would want Hank if they were starting from scratch as their first option.
Murray would probably be their guy
$8.5 million for a goalie clearly on the decline and who is 34 years old?
If I had to choose between the 2 today going forward given their current ages and contracts Talbot is the guy

I'm not saying necessarily that Talbot is so much better, I'm going off of who would be the better choice if I'm starting a new franchise.
And just so you know, the year that Talbot was Lundqvists backup, their numbers were almost identical on the same team with only 10 games different in games played.

Fair enough. I'd still pick Bishop over Talbot no question.
The main point I was trying to make is we seem to do better against west coast teams rather than eastern teams. In fact in the last two seasons we've only put up 6 goals once against an eastern conference opponent.

I'd take Bishop over Lundqvist (contract and age are better), but I still think I'd take Talbot. His salary is more reasonable and Bishop seems to have some durability issues.
This is probably an inappropriate forum (STICK TO HOCKEY) for this comment, but in 2 weeks the Buffalo preservation board will have a meeting to discuss Ciminelli's proposed two-block development at Elmwood/Bidwell. I would encourage any potential west siders or Elmwood Village residents to attend.
