We resign Miller..expose Marky
Sedins still here - Nighthawk
or, we wait until after the expansion to re-sign miller - protect marky and expose bachman. much better idea imo |

Look man, i appreciate your optimism, but to say the team is going to be better off without the twins is downright ludicrous.
Even if Bo becomes elite material, we would ultimately be devoid of at best, 3 other top six players, assuming Sven and Brock/Virtanen become first line material.
I know you love Benning and all, but this team could not even find Kesler a single (frank)ing decent line-mate over the course of almost a decade...yet somehow we are going to build an entire top 6 line in the course of 2 years lol?
"We can trade": we have no assets.
"We can draft": not if we continue on the path of selecting in the 8 to 15 range (sure we can find a gem or two, but the likelyhood of them making the pro's in the next year or two is rare to say the least.
"We can sign UFAs": When was the last time a decent UFA hit the market? At what age and cost?
It's one thing to be optimistic, it's something completely different to expect Benning to pull a rabbit out of a hat (or in this case, 3). - Whiskey-Tango
This follows under the category the sky is falling.
Benning said today he gets calls daily from other GMs asking about trading D
People told us including yourself all summer how bad we are , thaat we are a 63 point team. Yet here we are in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Sedins are exploding with a 1 of 23 PP. What are you afraid of hurting? Is 1 of 50 that much worse than 1 of 23? Big deal pay 14 mil for one more goal on the PP .
Is that really that ludicrous? Is there -10 -7 plus /minus not replaceable ?
We have them for another year and I think by that time most fans will be wanting to drive them to the airport. Everyone gets old , we will be fine and if not we will get high picks |

Agree he might get shopped but plan b to entice LV to pick him & we keep Sbisa & a F. - Nighthawk
out of the box thinking eh.
Though they can always sign Miller after expansion draft |

What a Rangers fan was offering on HF.
NYR offers the following for Tanev:
JT Miller
Ryan Graves
1st (2017)
3rd (2018)
I would love that deal. Though we would most definitely need to trade Hansen and likely Granlund or Baerschi as a result due to protection. |

Why would we lose Marky?
Bachman is our exposed goalie. We aren't protecting a UFA Miller. The choice is between Sbisa and Granlund unless Hansen or Granlund get traded, in which case it is just Sbisa(or Dorsett) |

Next year is next year.
The Sedins should be the 2nd line.
If BO's line falters its not on them. |

Marcus Naslund on hi final year as a Canuck was 25 G 30A and -7 .
Remember how we couldn't wait to say goodbye? Very similar situation and numbers to two other Swedish guys on the Canucks.
It is not an insult , evrything has an expiry date and I think next year will be very comparable to when we said goodbye to Naslund |

Bachman is a pawn nothing more.
The question was who we would rather lose standing pat. |

The Canucks are not built on one or two players. Everyone has a job and most nights they do it pretty well. |

This makes no sense. If Miller will re-sign now, he will re-sign after the expansion draft. No need to lose Markstrom when we can have both. Demko is not ready to back-up in the NHL. |

Hitting rock bottom is absolutely inevitable, most people understand that. - Whiskey-Tango
That's saying that the team will stop developing. Did we think Bo would develop to be 1C material? Did we see Granlund and Sven production? The decline of the team has coincided with the Sedins decline. So at this point in transition players can be seen that can fill in their present production. There are assets to trade and players to draft.
What I see you saying is you don't see any superstars to take over. Well okay. But we didn't see Bo and Tree to be showing what they are. So there are plenty of possibilities. Different routes and options that can materialize. Could they fail. Yes. Look how many teams are with named stars. It's a complicated recipe for success. |

I'm waivering…we may need to sign Miller for at the very least one more year. Markstrom I don't think is going to be our bonafide no 1 'guy' here. |
|
|
|
Brett Mackenzie will be our surprise.guy next season. Turns 20 in March, averaging over 1 pts. per game in North Bay 6'2" 195 lbs.
Solid in all 3 zones- Eliteprospects.
Sounds like a player that may be able to play 3/4th line in 2018.
I am overly optimistic, but a damn good fan.
Edit: our 2016 7th Rd pick |

You are right. His point was to do that so Vegas takes Marky and leave Sbisa & Granlund/Hansen alone if they make no trades. |

I heard the interview.
He also said that 'if' they were to make a move to 'improve their forwards' they would move a D. He also re-iterated that they will not be trading any picks. |
