It's ironic. Everyone loves to pile on Bylsma for not using players in a role they are best suited for (and some of that criticism is warranted), but are eager to move Kane out of the role he's produced the best by quite a large margin. - buffalofan19

Philly is wild card #2
They're on pace for 90pts
For us to get to 90...
we'd need to go 19-11-3 the rest of the way
Last night aside,
I think we've been playing well enough to get to that mark
I still think we either just make it,
Or just miss
Looks like 6points could separate 9th & 16th at the end of the season
Lots of teams scrunched together |

5 weeks = Small sample size
7 weeks = dispositive evidence move on no debate necessary. - Der Kaiser
Or u could look at it as...
A year ago he was good with Eichel
NOW he's playing good in another role
Changing what's working NOW doesn't make sense to me
If his production falls off...
ok, put him back with Jack & see
But don't try to fix what isn't broken |

Is Connor Sheary better than Hagelin or Kessel?
It's about finding 3 lines that mesh well
U absolutely DO NOT need your best 6 players in the "top6"
Pittsburgh just proved that
I like Kane
But how can anyone deny that he's been at his best playing on the 3rd line instead of one of the top 2?
SBroads has a good point
He "fits" better with a center like Girgensons as opposed to O'Reilly or Eichel
And imo... that's a good thing!
Having a 3rd line that can score is very important in today's game - jdfitz77
he had four goals, two assists and was a plus-2 playing in the top-six in the first seven games of eichel's return...the team went 4-2-1

Agreed with everything except for the bolded, only because buyers and sellers at the deadline will put some separation in that pack.

Why did Kane get a year and a half to recover from his injury, get acclimated to new teammates, all the clichés, but Ennis is just not good enough? - sbroads24
maybe it's because of his color |

"The three young stars account for seven of Buffalo’s 12 goals scored since November 29. Impressive production, for sure, but even more impressive is the marked improvement of the players in just five games.
Reinhart has played in all 26 of Buffalo’s contests, and before Jack came back, he averaged .48 points per game. Since then, his production has increased to .80 goals per game.
Kane is a completely different player with Eichel on the ice. Because of a rib injury, Kane missed 11 games, and in his 10 games without Eichel, the forward contributed only .2 points per game – troubling numbers for a player hoping to prove his worth in his second year with Buffalo. In his last five games, however, having Eichel by his side again has boosted Kane to a full point per game; 500% better than his early season stats." |

Might not be too many "sellers" though
And if u look at us...
is Faulk or Fedun gonna cause us to lose more points than if we had Georges or Franson still here?
Most teams that are sellers will bring up guys who are pretty decent to fill in holes created by trading average vets at the deadline |

It worked really well when this team was already out of the running for the playoffs. It's the equivalent of a quarterback throwing for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the 4th quarter when down by 24. It happens all the time.

Those 5 games don't outweigh what he's doing right NOW
Again...
there's NO reason to move Kane

Please re-read my post. I didn't say I want him moved off the third line. I said I reject the idea that he can't play with Eichel. That's not the same as saying I want him to do so now. |

You're just wrong here sir
U don't take Kane out of a spot where he's playing very good & put him in a spot where he's been less successful
That's dumb - jdfitz77
marcus Foligno went from a plus-5 in the month of December to a minus-5 five for the month of January...Eichel was a plus-one before Foligno was put on his line and now he's a minus-4...
tyler ennis scored a goal 19 seconds into his return, but hasn't scored in the last five games and is a minus-three in his last three
those are not good numbers for your top-two left wingers |

This brings up a good point.
We should NOT be measuring whether Kane is better on the 3rd than his is on the 2d or 1st. We should be measuring whether the team is better with Kane on the 3rd than the team is with him on the 2d or 1st.
I don't care about Corsi (neither do the standings), I care about wins.
And I make that observation without knowing what the data will say. |

Just used us as an example bc everyone here is more familiar w our roster
But for example...
let's say Carolina trades Hainsey
And replaces him with
Bean, Fleury or McKeown
How much worse will their team actually be when it comes to points in the standings they'll get?
I'd say it probably won't make much difference
A team or 2 might fall off
But I think most will stay at roughly the same level they're at now |
