I am not sure what you are arguing. How is it fake. Tony Gallagher stated that Mike Gillis told him scouting staff wanted Larkin, FA wanted Virtanen. The source wasn't anyone else other than Tony Gallagher himself. This wasn't a unverified twitter account or anything? Could Tony be lying? I guess? This didn't go through 4 unverified twitter handles before it was made public, this was straight from Gillis, to Canucks Reporter for the Sun, to the public.

It's time you come to accept that the NHL will always have a certain 'mickey mouse' mentality to it.

NHL brass are too focused on expanding the league and catering to certain markets and ignoring the fact their current product is suffering because of it. These rulings and decisions are manipulated by other factors than fairness and sportsmanship.

As for Larkin we all know he was picked several spots lower. So at the time other teams had a different view on him. Let's say JB has three trades to make at the deadline to make this team into a cup contender. That seems reasonable.

I think JB needs to get a veteran Dman, #1 centre, and a play-making winger. That should be easy. No need for goaltending because that position is already SOLID.

I would focus on John Tavares. Once JB gets that done the rest should fall into place.

Larkin was a college kid. Many teams don't draft them in 1st rounds(unless guarantee to sign right away like Eichel). Many GM's are afraid of the Vesey treatment.
