Who Weber? He's playing well this season but he doesn't drive the wins or losses like carey price does.

And to be honest I still like what Subban brings to the game more than Weber. Just my opinion.

13 Goals 19 assists 4 game winners I think. He has big hits he defends his team mates . He has his team at the top.

But my want for this team goes way beyond what Montreal or Columbus has as a top line. TBH, montreal is the exact opposite 'model' I want my team to follow. An all-star goalie and nothing else.

A young top line is great but they have to be competitive.

This canuck team is just as likely to get into the playoffs as they are to get a top 3 pick. Injuries are mounting but we have no idea what management is thinking. The message has been clear from them, playoffs are a priority and until I hear different it's what I have to expect.

- bloatedmosquito

Linden and Benning know we aren't making the playoffs. Why do they need to spell it out for you? They aren't going to throw their players under the bus and announce to the media that they are out of the race

Only The Condescending Matador Marwood controls that.

Just don't mention to him the Burrows extension JB gave. Unless you like to watch YouTube for his hellfire answers.

Then again maybe Vanhockey has a 200 word sentence you could look at.

It may contain Vantel's arguments...er....facts that may help.

I'm going back to counting chickens. Or is that eggs? I don't know. Will wait on the next buzzwords for guidance on Nucknation.

why don't you try, instead of attacking people, you attack arguments/ideas. I realize you're getting the old gangbang treatment from some of the regulars on here but you're not the first to get it, just like I wasn't, so get over it. Talk hockey if you want to talk hockey and stop letting the bullpoop get under your skin. These guys stick together cause they've been here. You're new, weren't you ever the new kid in highschool? Back your opinions up with facts and let the hate wash off like water off a ducks back, or it will just keep coming. Do I do this all of the time? NO, obviously not. Gotten better at it, the crusty old bastards notice and ease off. They will for you too.

Miller, Vrbata, Eriksson. Why? Regardless of contract length. Why?

I'm not arguing Weber's ability. He's world class. But he's had the uncanny luck playing in front of world class goalies. 6 of his 12 years playing hockey was in front of Vezina nominated goalies.

That combination of world class goalie and Dman is lethal. Too bad he doesn't have a cup. Lots of gold metals and stuff.

Source and sourcing seemed suspect. Anyway take it as gospel. Doesn't say what JB wanted. Guess he was high on JV having scouted everyone up to draft. As for Larkin we all know he was picked several spots lower. So at the time other teams had a different view on him. Funny how it's showing MG, notorius draft failure, saw him higher then everyone else then. Hindsight is great though.

The funny thing is it's not Chaput Magna or Gaunce giving up the goals .

Gaunce -1
Magna -1
Chaput-4

Ericksson-10
Daniel-12
Hank-20

If the three Swedes scored some goals and stop giving the other team so many then Magna Gaunce and Chaput are non factors

- VANTEL

How do you feel about Sutter and Granlund?

If you really want to point to a line that is giving up goals that should be the line. The rarely get the tough matchups that the Sedins get and are our two worst forwards as far as being scored against, if we ignore Dorsett because he only played 13 games.

I wouldnt say hes attacking per say, but enough with the posts for the sake of posting. No one wants to read riddles or a conversation that concludes within the same post. Nor does anyone want some fluffed up narrative about David and Goliath, the types of posts that come across like a failed broadcasting student's monologue.

Moderation in posting and lengths of posts while simplifying the message. Length is always my struggle, but seriously everyone appreciates posts that are short and to the point. We all suck at grammar so no point in getting fancy

I think many people including myself thought that the Canucks still had a competitive team in 2012 a year from losing the cup by 1 game and back to back presidents trophies.

Anyone claiming they "knew" the Canucks needed to rebuild at that point is straight up full of poop.

- belcherbd

Following up the run to the final, the Canucks win the President trophy. Hard to sell the idea that the team was regressing regardless of losing in the first round that season. It's very common for the two finalists to have a playoff crash the following year. So the end of 12/13 season should have been the wake-up call and instead, we get Torts and a collapse. He reminds us of how stale the roster was on the way out. So in a rational way to look at it, it was only one year that the owner/Gillis ignored the obvious. (hope I have my dates right... I'm heavily medicated)

There wasn't going to be a tear down no matter what the owner or GM wanted when JB was hired. Gillis' contracts are like a minny ice age. Patience...

Lefty says Gillis set up JB beautifully... yeah, old players with NTC/NMC's and only 1 team to negotiate a trade with for his star center that Gillis refused to move upon request.

After Bo, the prospect cupboard was bare... in the hit and miss world of drafting and trading for prospects, every little mistake looks critical... Gillis had the fortune of time with his mistakes... by the time you stack up all the long-term damage, he's so long gone that I can hardly picture the sweat pouring down his beat red face...

Why do we keep playing Miller every night and why hasn't Benning approached Hansen or Burrows yet about moving them if this team isn't trying to make the playoffs?

It's an admirable goal to try and make the playoffs, even if some of disagree with the goal.

How do you know they won't get a top 3 pick?

Montreal has a top team this year who is their first line? Or Columbus?

You may not like the names of the top line but Canucks will have younger top line in three years.

Tony Gallagher reported it a long time ago. I will try and find the link. Take it for what it is worth coming from the source, but....

Found this, but I can't find the actual article, will keep looking.

East is better than the west but it's the metro leading them

I'd rank the divisions

Metro
Central
Pacific
Atlantic

This is going to be a year where the playoff format is questioned...top 4 teams in east are in one division ...the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the east will meet in round one

I don't need it to be spelled out but it would be nice to see a definable direction in player personel choices.

Yes, JB has done a lot of house cleaning but what has he replaced it with? I see lots of lateral movement.

JB has improved the prospect pool but then turns around and signs miller, vrbata, and eriksson. I think this plan of rebuilding while still being cup competitive just doesn't work.

JB can position his team to be young, competitive, and exciting and not sacrifice draft position to do so. If the fans buy in then this transition could be very exciting. Not the horse poop we are being fed now.

Pacific has just gotten a bit better with Edmonton emerging as a legit team, Pacific was the weakest last year. This year it's the Atlantic. If Montreal was in the Metro... are they even in a playoff spot?
