There's a reason why hockey Canada likes weber over subban - Redmile247
No doubt. But I don't give a poop about hockey canada. It's a miracle if they lose instead if they win.
I'm thinking about my city team right now. It's a mess. |

Following up the run to the final, the Canucks win the President trophy. Hard to sell the idea that the team was regressing regardless of losing in the first round that season. It's very common for the two finalists to have a playoff crash the following year. So the end of 12/13 season should have been the wake-up call and instead, we get Torts and a collapse. He reminds us of how stale the roster was on the way out. So in a rational way to look at it, it was only one year that the owner/Gillis ignored the obvious. (hope I have my dates right... I'm heavily medicated)
There wasn't going to be a tear down no matter what the owner or GM wanted when JB was hired. Gillis' contracts are like a minny ice age. Patience...
Lefty says Gillis set up JB beautifully... yeah, old players with NTC/NMC's and only 1 team to negotiate a trade with for his star center that Gillis refused to move upon request.
After Bo, the prospect cupboard was bare... in the hit and miss world of drafting and trading for prospects, every little mistake looks critical... Gillis had the fortune of time with his mistakes... by the time you stack up all the long-term damage, he's so long gone that I can hardly picture the sweat pouring down his beat red face... - boonerbuck

It's the only reasonable answer and it pisses me off. - bloatedmosquito
It should. Aquilini needs bad press. We need to start a twitter handle or something, start showing that the reason a lot of people aren't spending money on his team is the poopty stuff he motivates. Apperently he really pays attention to the media, according to the media of course
(frank) Aquilini's meddling
When JB arrived he talked about Detroit/LA's model of developing guys in the A. Hasn't done it with ANYONE until JV forced his hand and this year Demko (who looks to be developing nicely). Stecher arguably as he just played that good in the A that he deserved the shot. IMO, it's JB that wants guys like JV/Hutton in the AHL. It's aquavelvet who pushes him to make the playoffs with his moves.

Why do we keep playing Miller every night and why hasn't Benning approached Hansen or Burrows yet about moving them if this team isn't trying to make the playoffs?
It's an admirable goal to try and make the playoffs, even if some of disagree with the goal. - belcherbd
1) he is the starter
2) Hansen has no choice. He must submit a list of 8. You are insane if you don't think Benning is speaking with teams about Hansen.
3) Burrows has already said he is open to a move. |

Weber is better than PK's risk reward style.

Thats a good analysis - Nighthawk
I like the idea of playing in your division but I hate to see teams get screwed by playoff formats
I think the NBA is the best seeding ...winning your division only guarantees you a spot ...not home ice ...wasn't it the canes who had like the 9th best record and like 25 fewer points than the team they played in the first round and yet they got home ice ? |

Hansen has also said that there is little he can do other than provide a list, if the Canucks want to trade him. He has said, "...if they want to trade me, there is little I can do to stop them..."

Only thing he can do is pull a Vrbata. aka provide a list of 8 non-playoff teams. Hansen isn't a pos so he will provide a proper list |

I do agree ...I don't get happy when they win ..just mad when it's a loss
The next couple years are huge for van ...you'll start to get a better idea in what you have with some of your high end picks as well as some of the young roster players now

What was the correct answer? I can't figure out why a team would want Weber and his horrific contract over Subban. It has to be race |

But my want for this team goes way beyond what Montreal or Columbus has as a top line. TBH, montreal is the exact opposite 'model' I want my team to follow. An all-star goalie and nothing else.
A young top line is great but they have to be competitive.
This canuck team is just as likely to get into the playoffs as they are to get a top 3 pick. Injuries are mounting but we have no idea what management is thinking. The message has been clear from them, playoffs are a priority and until I hear different it's what I have to expect. - bloatedmosquito
Canucks have next to zero chance at the playoffs....they would have to go something like 18-7 the rest of the way and hope both the kings and flames play sub. 500...not happening |

The funny thing is it's not Chaput Magna or Gaunce giving up the goals .
Gaunce -1
Magna -1
Chaput-4
Ericksson-10
Daniel-12
Hank-20
If the three Swedes scored some goals and stop giving the other team so many then Magna Gaunce and Chaput are non factors - VANTEL
Facts have no effect on bloated. I've tried it before. If you mesh some bullpoop into it, he may mistakenly be affected by facts from the "contact buzz" factor.

In terms of length Weber's contract is worse ...but his cap hit is still accurate ...subban is very overpaid cap wise imo

Jim Benning was setup beautifully by Mike Gillis (unknowingly) and Ryan Kesler when he took over in 2014, they had a multitude of draft picks in which to start a rebuild with, sadly the owner wouldn't let a proper rebuild (in my mind) happen.
My dislike for everyone from the coach up to the owners started then and there, and nothing's changed for me about them to this day. - LeftCoaster

The NHL always finds ways to deal with these contracts ...I don't believe for a second that webers contract is still on anyones books by the end of it |
