take 3 out of 4 points and sabres are buyers (non rentals)
take 0 out of 4 points sabres are lottery bound for sure
this is what happens when you go 0-8-2 vs the bruins, devils and canes |

The reason I asked is because on a Sabres message board someone posted that in Hamilton's interview with GR yesterday, rumors exist if they lose these weekend games, it might determine his future. It seems the teams disconnect is being noticed. I didn't hear the interview and it's quite rare for Hamilton to talk about rumors of any sort. |

Yup win 2 of those games and they're in the playoffs (well at least if the season ended today)
I will still say if the Sabres make the playoffs and Lehner's numbers stay where they are now he should be a Vezina finalist. He won't win but he should be in the conversation.
As far as the blue line is concerned:
Trade for an early 30 year old stay at home vet to be the 4/5 guy next season until Guhle is ready. As I told Sabres365 a guy like Jason Garrison.
Sign Shattenkirk.
Risto McCabe
Shattenkirk Garrison
Bogo Guhle
Falk

If they win one of the games this weekend I think he is safe.
However I do agree with you about how the locker room has been sounding after a loss. It makes me nervous with players who figure to be in the future plans coming out and saying things like that.
But that being said if they win both games they will be happy. Winning cures all. |

I don't think Shattenkirk will have any interest in signing with Buffalo, just my opinion. I would see if we could sign Alzner or Stone.

I agree. If they can beat either the Blues or Hawks, who are both on winning streaks then Bylsma will be safe. If the disconnect in the locker room has reached Murray and possibly Pegula, he is probably in trouble. Look at what happened in Montreal. The players tuned Therrien out and he was fired. |

If our back-up didn't go on a similar run, and have similar numbers, than maybe. But I don't think a guy who has just recently separated himself as the superior goalie on his team gets a Vezina nod |

I agree Shattenkirk to Buffalo would be a long shot.
He has been rumored to be coming back East.
I don't see how Boston can get it done and the only way the Rangers get him is if they trade Rick Nash.
Buffalo might have more of a shot than most think, especially if they can keep winning which of course remains to be seen. |

Lehner has played in 40 games and is 3rd in the league in save percentage tied with Holtby trailing Darling (only 23 games played) and Dubnyk.
He also has as many shutouts as Hank, Price, Rinne and Jones.
Your hated of the trade is seriously blinding you. You won't say it's not but to everyone else it's pretty clear. |

there have been so many flat stretches
even now, sabres rarely play 40 minutes let alone 60
if they were going to can disco sucks dan, they had many chances already this year |

In the east, Buffalo, Toronto, Washington, NJ all have the cap space and the room for a dman like Shattenkirk. I highly doubt NJ but it could be Washington, especially if they don't re-sign Alzner. Orlov could get a big pay day and they still would have room for Shattenkirk. |

He would be pretty stupid to not have any interest. Especially playing on a team with Eichel, Kane and Reinhart. |

And they could still do it and just have Terry Murray be the interim HC the rest of the season. The fact that they are not out of the playoff race tells me he'll stay. |

Sorry so late getting back to this....fell asleep early.
My point was that our coach would play old, slow, inneffective veterans over fast (yet green) rookies even though the rookies don't really look out of place. it bothers me because we're a slow team in a fast league.
Bbas could certainly pluck some AHL vets from the Marlies instead of playing his rookies.
Someone posted "yeah, and TO only has one more win than us"...but they have a positive goal-differential, have games in hand, and are fun to watch (even when they lose, the scores are 5-3). If we're gonna be the f'ing Devils it'd be nice to be near the top of our division...otherwise I'll trade fast, fun hockey and still be a fringe team like we are now, except now we are dull. - LandlordTom
Well we just look at it from a totally different perspective
I care MUCH more about us being GOOD As opposed to "fun to watch"
Look at all the young guys who've come up this year...
are they "PRODUCING" or are they just "fun to watch"?
PLAYER
Carrier. 35games, 4-2-6pts
Bailey. 17games, 2-1-3pts
Baptiste. 12games, 2-0-2pts
Rodrigues. 6games, 0-2-2pts
Schneider. 4games, 0-1-1pts
Fasching. 6games, 0-0-0pts
TOTALS. 80games, 8-6-14pts
So first,
These guys are NOT significantly producing
Second,
A guy like Moulson for example, has more goals than ALL of them combine
Third,
It's better for these young guys to DEVELOP their game in the AHL than just skate around fast & be fun to watch up here
Bringing guys up when they "don't look out of place" is NOT the same thing as bringing them up when they are READY and can contribute
Finally...
the correct way to handle the young guys is what's best for their development,
NOT what's most fun for u to watch
Because that's what's best for the long term,
So we can be GOOD for years...
That should be the plan imo |

Nope
First you build a base layer of ice, between 3/4 of an inch to an inch, then the ice is painted white, then the logos are put in (the first winter classic used a decal so they didn't have to paint the logos, blue lines, face off circles, etc.), and then you build the ice up more with "clear" ice. - Stripes77
What kind of podunk rink do you work at? 3/4" ice is what 99% of Arenas have for total ice. Anything thicker becomes incredibly slower, excessive snow and is prone to deep ruts, holes and puddles of water after a hot melt. |
