who do we miss more:
a. McNabb
b. Zadorov
i think with the return its obviously McNabb - IndianaSabresFan
I don't miss any of our trade Dman. Looking at possible players that will be exposed, right now I feel Myers, Pysyk, McNabb and Zardorov will all be exposed. |

Interesting that
Franson 88:03 of PP time (2pp)
Zads 35:40 of pp time (2pp)
Zads is a PP machine, look at that efficiency - DDM-Coga
On that pace, he'd be about 3 points higher with Franson's pp minutes. |

Couldn't they construct a 2nd rink next to the WJC rink, then move it into place for the big game? IDK the logistics, but there's gotta be a way to do it, if you really want to host - jcragcrumple
Could they? Maybe
But all the piping under the rink is expensive and if you damage one you're screwed.
Moving it would not be something that anyone would even attempt. |

It just seems like such a (relatively) trivial reason not to have the WC in a hockey-mad market on the 10th anniversary of its revival |

Buffalo has shown its "hockey mad" status for years now, and yet the NHL still doesn't feel like the money is there. Otherwise, they would have more events like this, especially with an owner with willing to open up the pocketbook the way he has. Perhaps this is changing with the draft and the combine, but those are smaller in scale compared to the events we are talking about. |

Which is odd, because no matter who the opponent is, the Ralph will be completely full. If you want an event to look good on TV, you'll probably get snow, you'll get full attendance, and you'll get a raucous crowd. Not to mention that you know the venue is feasible. |

Yes, but there hasn't been a Winter Classic locale that hasn't been full. |

It's all about marketing and money...
Setting up another rink and moving it is not a very cost effective way and extremely risky if it's even possible.
I am not sure of the piping systems of the temporary rinks but I know if one breaks there's extremely crappy ice or worse slush and no ice. |

Could you do two layers of ice, with the WJC ice on top, melt that and have the WC ice under? I'm sure there's some way around that problem |

Nope
First you build a base layer of ice, between 3/4 of an inch to an inch, then the ice is painted white, then the logos are put in (the first winter classic used a decal so they didn't have to paint the logos, blue lines, face off circles, etc.), and then you build the ice up more with "clear" ice. |

They paint ice?? I just figured it was a big white board underneath with all of the logos/lines and such painted on it. |

nope hand painted for the most part (lines, face off dots, crease, etc). Logos and such are just vinyl graphics |

Best color to "paint" it is a deep amber.
