yeah, feeling good...You forgot where you came from. You didn't earn it.The NHL felt sorry and set you up.
yea yea you won. so did the Wings,Islanders ,Oilers, Leafs, Hawks and the Habs. But they have what you do not....Class. never will - Joegogo
you say we don't have class, yet you're the one in here stirring poop up. Then all we say is that the pens are winners and the BJs haven't accomplished anything yet and you resort to the conspiracy theories of the lottery being rigged. Do you see how you're a hypocrite? |

On trading picks this year. I really don't like the idea except for the obvious piece we need to add - a depth defenseman. If healthy the team is really good enough to win a cup. The only area I see depth concerns is defense. I don't see many impact forwards we could add outside of the Colorado guys. Depth forwards are not necessary since guys like sundqvist can provide as good as anything we can get in a trade.
The second reason I don't do a deal is because the team doesn't appear to be anyway close to having their window close. We have a few aging stars who are not slowing down yet. But have just as many young guys getting better. Murray also looks like a guy you can build around. Even after Crosby Malkin and Letang are done 7-8 years from now I think we can still be a contender and build around Murray. The key will be hitting on a solid center at some point and maybe a 1d. Lots of the top dmen in the league were lower picks.
I don't think you need to build around generational talents and it's unlikely we will find another one. It's easier with stud centers but a lot of teams are showing you can be a contender without one. And more than a few teams with the franchise center like nyi that just are not good. I think the rangers and blue jackets model of having four really good lines works with an elite goaltender. Current nyr team would be a legit force if Lundqvist was still elite and the staal/girardi dmen they are paying we're living up to their contracts. |

What you are really trying to say is we are closer to you and play each other a lot so you hate us more than every other team that's had success. I can understand that. Hey buddy I would love the Blue Jackets to win a cup. Not this year but one of the next 3 years. |

In all fairness the Blue Jackets latest blog went up 23 hours ago. There have been a total of 8 replies to it. 5 of those replies are from Pens fans. No wonder all two of their fans feel a need to come in here. |

Yeah but no Pens fans were being trolls haha, Victoro triple posted the same post asking a question. Most were complimenting the game. I didn't see one negative post by a Pens fan in there. |

Pease! No moving Sprong!
I just have this feeling Sprong is going to be a monster. Under the old "where offense goes to die" system that MJ had in place, he just did not put him in a position to succeed, but he was still so noticeable every time he was on the ice. He reminds me of Kovalchuk. NOT SAYING HE WILL BE AS GOOD! He just moved like him. - Rinosaur
Yeah, I don't want to move Sprong either. I thought if I mentioned Guentzal, people would lose their sh*t. I think Sprong is going to be the better player. A true sniper.
Regardless, it's going to sting to get a player like Landeskog. We probably need to over-pay a little. I think Landeskog puts us over the top. We would need to make a deal to replace Maatta and I think Ruhwedel is an acceptable #7. |

Serious question, if it were the same cost to acquire, would y'all rather have Duchene or Shattenkirk?
Remember Shattenkirk is a rental likely to walk... |

Shatt....they need more help on D, I dont think Duchene makes the team that better alone, he will walk in 2 years anyway and cost more to acquire anyway. |

I want Landeskog not Duchene. So if the cost for Shatty is the same as him, I'd much rather have Landeskog.
Of course if Maatta is going the other way as a part of the deal, we would need to do another deal for a bottom pairing D. I agree we could use help on D, but this is largely the same core.....and Schultz is playing much better. Our D will improve when the forwards start backchecking like they did late last season.
All this talk about the Blues trading Shattenkirk... How do they pull that off right before the playoffs? That's the kind of move that demoralizes a playoff team.

On trades:
Our most imitate need is a top 4 defenseman and our most pressing long term needs are 3C and 2RD. I become more and more convinced every day Schultz can be that guy so I think 3C is much more pressing.
We also have assets again to make moves. I'm not interested in going back to the days where our cupboards are bare so we need to be smart and tactically target needs and not go overboard.
That's why I'm not looking at Duchene or Landescog. Great players but we don't really need them. We have Sheary and Guentzel long term that can ride shot gun on Sid and Malkin's left long term. Not nearly as good as the other two but certainly good enough.
Right now I'm targeting Shattenkirk or Trouba and in the offseason I'm enquiring about T. Johnson and Kadri. |

To the BJ's fan.... The Pens have been in the league for 50 years, willing the cup 4 times, which equates to 8% of the time. All 4 of those championships have come in the last 25 years, which equates to the Pens winning 16% of the Cups in the last 25 years. Pretty good percentile if you ask me considering there is 30 teams in the league... We've also been privileged (and lucky) to see a number of world class players come through our organization... both drafted from poor seasons/tank jobs, shrewd drafting and shrewd trades... Lemieux, Jagr, Coffey, Trottier, Francis, Robitaille, Kovalev, Larry Murphy, Gonchar, Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Kessel.. many art ross, Richard and hart trophies have been won by Pens..... Its been a great franchise to be a fan of... Yes, I am a band wagon jumper, but I jumped on the bandwagon at 6 years old in 1990 watching Jagr and Lemieux and have not got off it ever since. When I first got my license at 17 I started making twice yearly road trips to Pittsburgh (8 hours one way) to watch my team play and still make the trip twice a year presently... the best player on "my team" at the time was Richard Tarnstrom. LOL- not a very squad... but I, like many Pens fans have stuck through thick and thin. Yes we have our bandwagon fans, but all winning teams have those. Yes, we have our loud mouth uninformed fans, but in the internet age, all teams have those as well. I can respect your fandom for the BJ's and wont criticize the fact they have yet to win anything- because your time will come.. but please, save yourself.. like it or not, Pittsburgh is one of the most successful, if not the most successful post expansion franchise. |

All of this "trading for a top 4 dman" talk could have been avoided if they just did the obvious right choice and picked trouba instead of Pouliot |

Would rather of have them went after forsberg with the 8th overall pick. Back then they needed forward depth |

If cost to acquire were the same, I would take Duchene or Landeskog both over Shattenkirk. I just feel like after Shero, we should never pay premium assets for a rental ... |
