The fact that UND has had a disappointing season doesn't hurt.

Great day to be a Nucks fan. Our prospect pool has taken a massive leap forward and it's pretty clear ownership has given JB autonomy. Thank you Aquilini and JB

I'm in no rush to trade Edler when he has term on his deal. Need him to take the tough minutes so it doesn't destroy Hutton or Tryamkin and lets Juolevi get some AHL reps in before playing in the NHL.

Same for Tanev. Even if you're tanking, you don't want to force Stecher into playing top comp every night until you're more confident he can handle it. Gudbranson can't replace what Tanev does and you don't get a competent replacement in FA without some absurd 6+ offer to a guy who should make 3.5.

Does anyone really think its possible to destroy him? He's the last 1 to worry about

If I even bring A&W into my vehicle, the smell of rotten slaughterhouse floor scrapings they make their patties with sets into the upholstery and it takes 3 or 4 days to get out. Even worse, an A&W fart gets trapped in the drivers seat and for the next week, everytime you sit down, the seat releases it's own gagger of a botulism fart. Driving with a A&W fart in the vehicle is bad enough to give you a fake tan...

Could easily see a "bust" prospect swap if Benning can get over the sentimentality of it being his guy.

Virtanen for Lazar kind of thing.

But you don't want them so far in over their head they can't make strides in their development. Spot duty against top comp? Fair enough. The dedicated LH dman for top comp on a season? Not ideal.

Now, if you had two Edlers or maybe Tampa says "Pretty please can you take Coburn for us" well, maybe that opens the door to some potential moves. Sacrifice a guy like that to the wolves who can kinda masquerade like he's doing a good job while you're in your tank years.

If you do that kind of trade you're not doing it to acquire the bad contract player, you're doing it to do that team a cap favour in exchange for valuable young assets.

Toronto took on Laich because it got them Carrick. Arizona took on Bolland to get Crouse, Datsyuk to move up in the first round. Carolina took Bickell to get Teravainen. etc.

The pooptier the player the more value you might get in the second player in the deal.

But even if they make the playoffs its in a wildcard spot and you're gonna get pooppumped. The defence isn't good enough, you don't have a high end goaltender and your first line is rapidly aging into a second line. It would take a renaissance for half the team to be any kind of real playoff threat.
- Lindenis#1

I dont expect them to do damage in the playoffs should they somehow make it, maybe perhaps a few games

Why not? You're not winning next year or the year after. But if you can get some pieces that help you win in the years after I'm not sure why you wouldn't.

You don't take on every poop player in the league, but to bring in one or two along with a couple more talented youngsters or high picks, it should be a no brainer during rebuild years.

I'm not familiar enough with the farm systems of teams in cap crunches like Tampa, Washington and LA, but you don't exactly cure their cap headache out of the goodness of your heart.

You get something worth your trouble, like the players I listed before were for their teams.

I don't let sports upset me much.

It just goes to show that all the excuses for not starting this previously were just that......excuses.

Job well done by Benning and I hope he's not done. I hope Sutter is the player rumoured to be willing to waive his NTC.

Someone on twitter wondered if it was Eriksson. Sold on coming to play with the Twins and a team that isn't going into a rebuild, then gets to watch Megna take shifts with the Twins and the team is a seller at the deadline.

for most players sure. Tree has been awesome and went to playing 25+ min a night pretty fast. Love his game and decisions with the puck. I have no problems putting him against top line talent, in fact I think its ideal.

I don't know about that. People thought Hutton was ready for primetime and while he definitely has his moments, he has plenty of moments of yikes when up against top offensive players.

Tryamkin had that really good stretch in February but he regressed back a bit into his old habits. Last thing you want is to break his confidence and he resorts back to rimming the puck as hard as he can and ignoring all his passing options again.

I know they play a different game, but I'd rather the team be cautious with those two now and have a real solid left side of their top 4 to take over in a season or two, than rush them into it.

Its so Oilers to throw out your veterans because of the shiny new toy. Then your shiny new toy loses its luster when you can't protect it.

possible but with 5 yrs remaining on contract I doubt it.

regarding the sedins winger, 2 of those classic choices just got traded. LE should be happy today

I thought the comment was more about the expansion draft tbh.

I think Sutter likes his situation too much. He plays more TOI than anyone else and gets more responsibility and leverage than he's going to get on an actual competitive team.

Willy probably can't wait to rearrange the Twin Linemate chart to say Granlund-Megna-Sutter-Goldobin-Baertschi-Dahlen-Eriksson-Rodin.
