Exactly. If this is where Benning goes, I'll be ecstatic.

If he locks himself into huge dollars and term on some FA or even Gudbranson, I'll be disappointed and feel like we're back to the last two summers.

It's one of the reasons I wasn't upset that they weren't going to try and go after the 1OA this season and were willing to try and see if they could make a run to the playoffs. It's not like Patrick or Hirschler or whoever ends up getting selected 1OA is going to be a superstar instantly like McDavid or even a Matthews.

LE was a gamble, and turns out he's a 200ft version of Vrbata which when you're paying 6x6 with a full NMC for the first 2 years, a modified NTC the next and then no NTC for the last 2 years you want someone much better than Vrbata. I wouldn't be unhappy if they resigned Gudbranson as we need someone like him, but definitely no more than Sbisa dollars and no longer than 4 years because by then we probably have better options to replace him.

Trading Burrows and Hansen for what is essentially a late 1st and 2nd rounders (even if it's prospects and not picks) and the potential 31st overall pick if SJ wins the Cup is a coup, if he can trade Sbisa, Gaunce and even Miller, let alone convince LE to go somewhere else might end up calming the hysteria on here and in the Vancouver meida.

Ugh, I forgot Dorsett was on this team. :/

Part of me kinda hopes he ends up on Andrew Ference/Stephane Robidas island.

It never hurts to add a first overall. And there was a lot of hype about Patrick until he suffered an "upper body injury" in his knee. I don't know enough about the euro guys, but even if you get like Matt Duchene or RNH, that isn't a bad thing.

Gudbranson at 4x4? I can live with. But honestly, he hasn't proved he's much of a player in his career. He's basically like Roman Polak or Eric Gryba. A right handed Sbisa.

I'd love it if JB lowballed him after an injury plagued season on a one year prove it contract. See how the rest of the D pans out and probably flip him next year.

But JB's contracts haven't proven to be his strong suit so I'm not terribly excited about seeing the extension no matter what it looks like.

I'm not saying they're good ideas, just that there are players who can get a big ticket this summer and when you have 20 mil to spend, you might not see things clearly. "We have tons of money now, and can make the money work down the road." Its how you get Eriksson and, to a lesser extent, Sutter at inflated contracts. Its a worry about Gudbranson, who was a non factor all year and I feel like the Canucks D has been better since he got injured.

I hope they don't, but it doesn't mean they won't try for some god forsaken reason.

- Lindenis#1

EG will come in at a solid contract & LE & Sutter r easily absorbed.

If I even bring A&W into my vehicle, the smell of rotten slaughterhouse floor scrapings they make their patties with sets into the upholstery and it takes 3 or 4 days to get out. Even worse, an A&W fart gets trapped in the drivers seat and for the next week, everytime you sit down, the seat releases it's own gagger of a botulism fart. Driving with a A&W fart in the vehicle is bad enough to give you a fake tan...

Only Sedins & Eriksson have an NMC

Edler has a full NTC
Sutter an NTC but know the details.

- Nighthawk

JB should tell Edler he's getting exposed to LV unless agrees on a trade...

That would be huge, once the twins and Edler are gone. You never know.

I'm in no rush to trade Edler when he has term on his deal. Need him to take the tough minutes so it doesn't destroy Hutton or Tryamkin and lets Juolevi get some AHL reps in before playing in the NHL.

Same for Tanev. Even if you're tanking, you don't want to force Stecher into playing top comp every night until you're more confident he can handle it. Gudbranson can't replace what Tanev does and you don't get a competent replacement in FA without some absurd 6+ offer to a guy who should make 3.5.

- Lindenis#1

I'd trade Edler for a sweaty jock strap and a half pack of Marlboro reds

Any competitor would welcome an opportunity to win a Stanley cup. Moving Edler is possible, if he waives. The twins with their combined salary, real tough unless you eat a good chunk of it. Possibilities for the next trade deadline after what we saw this week? It happened to Sundin at about the same age.

More moves or what?!?

The young prospects are great returns for the rebuild. Adds another layer of development over the draft picks Nucks made and will get this draft.

Will miss the character and personality of Hansen and Burrows who just wanted to be part of the rebuild and help the young guys take over. Lifer Canucks who gave it all to to the team and organization. Fans should appreciate that.

Four guys left pre-JB era. Sedins will retire as Canucks. Edler and Tanev moved maybe even this off season.

Someone on twitter wondered if it was Eriksson. Sold on coming to play with the Twins and a team that isn't going into a rebuild, then gets to watch Megna take shifts with the Twins and the team is a seller at the deadline.

If you do that kind of trade you're not doing it to acquire the bad contract player, you're doing it to do that team a cap favour in exchange for valuable young assets.

Toronto took on Laich because it got them Carrick. Arizona took on Bolland to get Crouse, Datsyuk to move up in the first round. Carolina took Bickell to get Teravainen. etc.

The pooptier the player the more value you might get in the second player in the deal.
