Not enough IMO.
I knew 9/92 were not going but The fact they didnt open up more roster spots is a huge failure. More opportunities to see what you have with some of the older prospect pool, use it as leverage to sign NCAA free agents giving them playing time this year.
I think they just limits them |

" I'm sure I'm going to have conversations with both of them, but I'm not the one who's going out there and throwing names around," general manager Joe Sakic said in a conference call after the deadline.

Overall very disappointed that Tyutin, Goloubef, Mitchell and about a dozen other guys are still here. But if Sakic says there wasn't much of a market for them then I believe him. Most importantly Duchene is still here. Good luck to Iggy in LA |

What? Sakic has said for weeks now that is isnt calling teams about Landy and Dutch, other teams are calling and he is listening.

But if he doesn't score in the first game, we must cut him because he obviously isn't worth it |

Still an option to throw some of these plugs on waivers. Already tried Mitchell! Send Bourque, Mitchell,Tyutin, and call up Siemens, Bigras, and Greer to at least see where we're at this season. |

Overall, I'm disappointed like many of you. Sakic had a real opportunity to get "younger and faster" with this deadline. If that really is his priority I fail to see why that ideology need only apply to the off-season moving forward rather than for the rest of this season as well. Seems there is a conflict of interest there to me but what do I know... In addition though, and #9 has been my favorite player since his drafting, Duchene really should have been moved. If Isles offered two separate packages and the Canadiens offered one I have a hard time believing Sakic will get a better deal in the off-season when its pretty widely regarded Dutch has been sandbagging for much of this season. I think his stock will only drop from here unless he goes on a 20 goal tear between now and the end of the season.... |

That condition on Iginla is embarrassing. Sakic really failed to show he and his front office have any direction. It's hard to believe he's capable on turning this team around. I feel like GMs lick their chops when they get an opportunity to talk to the Avs.
Hopefully they find their way at the draft and we don't lose Dutch or Landy for nothing

geebus I cannot stand Dater....I'm so bummed is on with BSN Denver now....he's just not my cup of tea as a reporter. and now he's on a trade deadline podcast for them where he spent most of the time derailing the topics and arguing. guy just sucks. then gives minimal effort in his posts....just ugh |

Instead of Dater we now have Terri Frei, Mike Chambers and Kizla. Three men that would make Garth and James Tanner look competent and pretend they know wth they're talking about. It's so sad that every time I read some of their columns I feel I'm getting dumber. Rick, thank you for what you do. |

Moving Iginla at all was a success, who cares what they received. In reality the Avs did not have any "assets" that were coveted outside of Landy and Dutchy. Maybe if Bourque wasn't hurt the last month he would have gotten some bites and Most of the centers moved were big gritty guys not mitchells mold. But what about Cody Golb....are you serious the guys a 7th D on the Avs like a contender would want him. Nobody is willing to part ways in season what Joe is looking for Landy or Dutchy. After a teams misses out on a cup they'll look to bolster there roster in different ways and will be willing to make big changes. You can't expect everything to be done over night. At least JT got his call up and will get to see what he's got. |

It seems convenient how people forget there is an expansion draft upcoming and it complicates any trade, especially with beauchemin having to be protected. Would be nice if sakic was playing NHL 17, but he has to deal with the consequences of signing older players Roy desired after that lucky playoff run his first year |

Speaking of the expansion draft, who do you think the Avs protect? I mean I would think it's pretty cut and dry, but hey, we need something to discuss.
Duchene, Landy, Mack, Rat, Johnson, Barrie, Beauch(Have to ) Zads..Pickard |

Dont have to protect Rantanen, hes exempt from the Draft.
I think they protect Grigo in an 8 skater scenario.
If they are able to get Beauchemin to waive his NMC so they can go 7 skaters 3 D.
Mack, Dutch, Landy, Grigs, Comeau, Nieto, Colborne - EJ, Barrie, Zads, Picks
I really think they want to move more salary out so exposing Soderberg and Varly is a way for Vegas to have to take one of them. Thats my theory at least. But I could easily see them protect Soderberg and expose Colborne...which is less than idea but what cha going to do |

Don't they have to provide two forwards, one defenseman, and one goal tender for the draft? Or is it two skaters plus one goalie?
If it's two forwards, they can expose Colborne and Soderberg, unless the draft also includes players in the AHL who have had a certain amount of NHL exposure (like Grimaldi).
Also, when is the expansion draft vs. when do RFA contracts need to be signed? That changes things too...Grigorenko is an RFA next season. Or are all qualifying RFAs eligible (Zadorov, due to length of time in the NHL, is not eligible)? |

They keep all the RFAs, but for guys to expose, they have Barberio signed next year so they have the Ds checked off if they have to go 8 Skaters.
I think they are pretty set |

Part of the draft issue is you have to have a certain number of players exposed that have played a qualifying number of games (40ish?) in order to protect the 5/3/1 or more likely 4/4/1. Too busy to look it all up, but if we waived or traded the 3/4 liners, we aren't able to protect the max number of players. I'm stoked they "gave a playoff chance" to igilna and McLeod. Curious about the Swiss guy from mtl. Hopefully with Johnson healthy, Barrie improves and we get some confidence and build value for a couple players once the expansion draft is over |

I think you can get around that by the loophole of signing RFAs to offer sheets and then exposing them that way.
My apologies about protecting Rat, forgot he didn't play the required number of games. Varly is definitely getting exposed but with what's out there, I don't see Vegas taking him |

I have this nagging suspicion if they move on from Varly in the expansion draft that they will take a run at Fluery.
Dont know why but just I can see a scenario in my head that happens |

I could get behind that move, as long as it's a short 1-2 year deal. I just don't know if I trust Pickard enough yet. |
