and it got the blues their usual one and done in the playoffs - homiedclown
Well, I do have to feel a bit bad for the Blues. They built a good team, but they still got screwed by the beast that is Chicago being in their division. It's like the Bills building a solid playoff team, but it doesn't matter because we'll always have to play the Patriots. |

Yeah, we still own the pick, it's Minny's 2nd this year. |

Sure, I can agree with this post. I just think when we trade a NHL ready D-man in McNabb and 2 second round picks, it shouldn't be for a prospect who's development curve is still 3-5 years away. - sskkoo1
Not diagreeing with the premise of your statement around giving up too much and having to wait.
And this isn't directed at you specifically...
Can we all just friggin agree that McNabb also sucks and therefore this misguided concept of him being an Allstar Dman is just plain wrong. He is a 3rd pairing D who is out as much as he is in the lineup after having been given a long, long time to show what he has. He is a 6 or 7.
So we gave up a 6th and 2 2nds (who have what, about a 20% chance of making it) for D-lo and Fashing. Big friggin deal....sounds it is about even or slightly tilted in LA's favor. |

Were these actual trades put on the table? I remember there being a rumor of Miller for Ovi at one point as well. - sskkoo1
I heard miller and staff for forsberg and holtby

Well, maybe... but I would consider McNabb a bottom pairing guy, I never considered him to be great, and I'm not sure if anyone else here has. The two seconds are good value and were in a good draft, so I wouldn't so easily dismiss them.
But, what did we get? D-lo is beyond a joke, he should be in the ECHL. And, Fasching has showed nothing. That might change in time, hopefully. But as of right now, Fasching is a bum and a waste of time 3 years after the trade. |

This is going to be a tough nut to crack.
If I were in that position, I would wait to see what the Sabres do for D in the offseason before I do anything. If it looks good, then I could see signing with the Sabres and doing battle with a Lehner for the starting job. If not Much is accomplished I'm going FA route.
Better get active Murray. This has got to be your last chance to get it right. |

Yes, but I'm just really referring to what I've seen out of him so far. As I stated, he can still develop into a quality player, but what have we seen so far? A goal and bumping Doughty into the boards last night where he got cross-checked in the head for his efforts. |

How is it remotely even? Neither D-Lo or Fasching are worth a 2nd round pick right now. Let alone 2. My god 2 second rounders for Fasching and someone who will be waived
No one thinks McNabb or Pysyk are all stars, but they are younger and much cheaper than Kulikov, Blow-Go and Gorges. And not much or at all better |

Theyd be worth three 2nds if bylsma wasnt coach. |

This season is so disappointing...I thought the suffering was over. I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel...I wonder where the Sabres would have been right now if they had Mike Babcock behind the bench? |

So both of those 2nd rounders, 2014 and 2015 were both Dman selected and were traded. 2014's pick combined with the 2015 1st to Carolina for Sekera. The 2015 Dman pick was just shipped to Tampa along with Bugatti for Ben Bishop.
I guess you could say they had value in that they were package with more prominent pieces to acquire other needed players...but, neither has played a game in the NHL yet.
Point is, the jury is still out on that trade.
Will Fashing do something? Who knows.
Will either of those 2 2nd rounder Dman do something? Who knows.
McNabb and D-Lo both suck.
That trade was eaqually sucky for both teams. It is time to move along and put that in the Remains to be seen - Did not Lose/Did not Win column. |

See my additional post above this one, but below yours...
The facts are the facts. That trade sucked for both teams. Neither side won.
If you think other wise, show me from the actual assets in that trade not some conceptual vałue of what a second rounder could be |

I agree that the jury is still out on Fasching, and I wish him the best. But, what LA did with the two 2nd we traded them is irrelevant. It's what WE could have done with them. Pick #43 in 2015 still had Sprong, Greenway, Kylington, and Bracco on the board. And, who knows what we could have done with pick #60 in 2014.
