The facts are the facts. That trade sucked for both teams. Neither side won.
If you think other wise, show me from the actual assets in that trade not some conceptual vałue of what a second rounder could be - IonSabres
youre banging your head against the wall here. its not going well and damnit somebody has to pay. at this point, nothing is getting fixed until the season is over, nobody is trading us a pair of d at game 75. he bought low on a few d and now is going to probably be forced to pay the ridiculous market prices to fix it. add in whatever role he may have had in hiring the wrong coach and id call it a day. gotta fix the d and preferably get a new coach, then see whats what. |

I agree that the jury is still out on Fasching, and I wish him the best. But, what LA did with the two 2nd we traded them is irrelevant. It's what WE could have done with them. Pick #43 in 2015 still had Sprong, Greenway, Kylington, and Bracco on the board. And, who knows what we could have done with pick #60 in 2014. - sskkoo1
Depends on how one looks at it.
Some like to view it with the benefit of 20/20 hindsigh.
Others like to look at it with the actual picks as a realistic proxy of what would have happened should the Sabres retain those picks.
Not sure either is better than the other.
So to say what really happened is irrelevant, I dispute that logic...but whatever man.
The point is...jury is still out.
If they had made most. Any other pick, some would still be female doging about those development cycles as well.
It is what it is.
I just can't agree with the sky is falliñg sentiment that many attach to that trade. |

This kind of rationale is why people think we "nailed" the Lehner and Kane trades.
We were a rebuilding team that moved out a bunch of futures for immediate help, while we continue to be an awful team.
All the while those picks and prospects are developing on better teams |

I respect your opinion even if we don't completely agree. And, I do agree that the Fasching trade is not a sky is falling trade, it's just one of what seems to be several questionable moves that was done with expendable assets. It's a matter of what was spent and what was returned, and possibly how else those assets could have been spent wiser. |

Trust me when I say I'm very unhappy with the state this team finds itself in...it isn't going very well is an understatement in my mind...alarming is more my feeling.
I just can't get onboard with this sentiment that GMTM screwed the pooch in the McNabb deal...that is my argument.
The Coach sucks...been saying that since Dec. of hist FIRST season.
The Defense is clueless, one of the lower IQ groups I have seen.
We have a Mutiny on our hands, lead by a twenty year old star...that just ain't good from any angle.
Owner has his head up his ass and won't bring in a Hockey Ops guy to oversee it so he can go back to being a fan who writes checks.
Team core crumbles under pressure...not good for the long haul...that is very, very alarming.
More? That should cover it for now.
Except it is very disappointing after having gone through four poop seasons |

Lehner could win the vezina and Kane could get kicked out of the league. Who knows what the next 2,3 years will look like for the majority of the Sabres |

Could be.
Could be that the mentality of all those picks would all contribute in a way that is greater than what we have now is equally as flawed.
Some will prove to be solid players (Lemieux comes to mind), others will be AHLers.
The net is that if there are 10 picks dealt away, apply the percentages of success rate by round, even at phase level within rounds ... you probably end up with 4 out of 10 being legit NHLers...then compare that to ROR, Lehner, Kane...it probably isn't that much different.
I am much more concerned with GMTM ability to ID capable Defenders, and Pegula,s involvement if he directed that Bylsma be the guy after he was burned.
I do think the Coach is a big problem here...and many players are underperforming in his stupid system. |

Sabres put up 5 in game two of a back to back after being shutout. That's a lot of wishful thinking. |

Lemieux is just tearin it up in the AHL with 120 PIMs, -16 and 19pts in 61 games |

Not all, but context has to be taken into consideration.
The 2015 draft looks like one of the best in over a decade. Players are looking like studs left and right already. We traded 4 picks in the top 60 in that draft.

You gotta think that these guys will start giving a s**t at some point and actually try to earn their pay cheques. |

Nah, they've been given the green light to pack it in. Winning any more games doesn't help but screw up draft position. |

The Ducks like to play down to their opponent.
At least under Bruce they did.
All depends on how pissed the Sabres are today. |

It was said on the radio this morning by Brian Koziol that the players look like they are playing the last games under a coach who is going to be fired.
I think there is way too much smoke with the constant chatter about the PLayers V the coaches to not be a problem.
I understand this team is bad, but it is not get out shot 15-2 bad. Something else is up. |

Always try to bring up the positives:
Did everyone see E-Rod yesterday? That kid can play. I wasn't sure about him, if he was another flash-in-the-pan-Grant or not...he really competed yesterday and looked like he has a pretty good handle on the pro game. He's a little weak on the wall for my liking, but what a heck of a game. |

Giving up a first for an injured unproven goaltender along with a Cap dump is a short term and long term failure, IMO. |

If we keep this up we could end up second last in the league and everyone knows second always finishes first |
