My guess is barring trade, Vegas will take Ullmark. That means the bottom six is the same going into next year. Buyout DLO, trade girgs, let Gionta walk. We're stuck with Ennis and Moulson, two should-be top six players forced into a bottom six role. Moulson has read shown his PP hands are still there but I don't think he's part of a playoff team. Unless we get rid of one of those guys, I don't see much improvement next year. We need a top flight LW and a huge influx of speed in the bottom six. I like Bailey but at this point Fasching looks like a busy. ERod should be the 13th forward next year. Gotta get a speed guy and a savvy vet PK for the fourth line. The loss of Larsson hurt more than people realized I think |

Top pair LHD, 1 midldle pair D, maybe 1 more top 6 winger.
Definitely a new coach and lose the dead weight eating up our cap. - sskkoo1
I'm hoping the Canucks & Sabres can pull off a deal both teams like.

"The good news for Crosby is that Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News will probably be writing an article about how Sid deserves the Masterton. That seems to be the standard for hit and runs involving Ryan O’Reilly."
Ouch - sbroads24
Pretty sure he had to write involving because it's clear O'Reilly was not driving that night. |

Here is why Risto was thrown out.
56.4 Major Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a major
penalty, based on the degree of violence, to a player guilty of
interfering with an opponent (see 56.5).
56.5 Game Misconduct Penalty – When a major penalty is imposed
under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury of an opponent, a game
misconduct shall be imposed
Pretty simple word for word in the rule book.
This kid needs to keep his head up stuff needs to stop. He didn't have the puck plain and simple.
That is an easy call for any official.
A guy gets injured as a result of a penalty...
The 4 minute penalty to Kane was deserving he did knock 2 of Crosby's teeth out, however I am more mad at Bylsma for not showing any emotion just 30 seconds earlier when Reinhart was bleeding from a high stick. He didn't say a damn word. The refs missed that one terribly.
The Crosby how do you do to ROR's testicles is complete BS.
The faceoff at center was so bad they had to blow it dead and restart the faceoff.

I can't stand that. I get that on one hand, you don't want to rattle your own players off their game, but at some point during the season, it would have been nice to see him try to get his guys going instead of chewing gum with his arms crossed |

This.

Show some emotion, stick up for your players, get p!ssed off. It was 3-1 at that point they were going to lose show something.
That is why he has lost the locker room. |

Plus we have a quiet group of leaders anyway. Someone needs to be a drill sergeant. A lot of players on this team need to do some soul searching this summer. The worst part is it seems almost inevitable that Bylsma gets at least the start of next season. If it goes into the toilet 10 games in, we could lose another season because of problems that are readily apparent now. |

Bogo played 33 minutes. 33 minutes of running around, looking and acting stupid, and just being plain ol' bogo. This D reminds me of that Carolina series. You know the one. Stupid Jay McKee- wash your gear! - Khmylev
I loved when in the third period, he had all he time in he world and just threw the puck in the middle of the ice right to the Penguins. Had me laughing quite hard. |

I guess the crazy part about all this is that honestly, the hit didn't look that violent IMO. I feel like we see things that are much more violent that go without penalties all the time. Yes, he interfered with him when the puck wasn't there, but I didn't think in terms of "big hits" this was anything over the top or that we don't see throughout the season. I do agree with him getting a penalty in general, I just feel like they threw the book at Risto for something we see pretty frequently throughout the year.

The hit wasn't violent at all, it's that Guentzel had his head down and wasn't prepared for it, that's what made all the difference. Two football players can run the length of the field, hit each other and both get up without issue. Then someone else can walk down the street while staring at their phone and walk straight into a telephone pole, breaking their nose and knocking their teeth out. It's all a madder of being blindsided and that's more on Guentzel than on Risto.

the part of this that needs to be clear, and it's not
the injury extent should have no affect on the penalty
it should be the same if the player skates away or lays on the ice for 8 minutes
it's never the case though
if player x tomahawks player y with his stick, and misses the penalty should be the same as if he connected |

Um...no
Risto stepped up to hit him plain and simple. His timing was off because the puck got tipped. The onus is always on the player delivering the hit especially when it comes to if the player he is going to hit has the puck.
This wasn't two players colliding this was one player hitting another player. |

I am seriously starting to hate the NHL.
What Crosby did to ROR yesterday was far more malicious than what Risto did.

Injury from a penalty is penalized more severely in every age group in hockey.
What doesn't need to be taken into context is injury during supplemental discipline.
Guys like Marchand escape suspension because of lack of injury, that is the biggest cop out.
Regarding the Risto hit it was the right call. He will probably get a game or two. Anything longer and then we have the right to complain. |
