And that weird ass legal case finally got put to bed too, that had to be hanging over his head, knowing he didn't do anything wrong, but being labeled an abuser.
Edit: Didn't do anything illegal. I'm sure he did some wrong. - Wetbandit1
have no idea what happened there, and I wont say hes guilty of innocent 1 way or another bc his GFs lawyer apparently was a scum bag exploiting her. But when you are getting sued for emotional damages and the jury rules in your favour for the plaintiff to pay you instead. Kind of a good sign he probably was more in the right than in the wrong.

Oh, 9 whole spots, plus a 2nd rounder which is another lottery ticket. It's at least the same value. My point is everyone's creaming their pants over how good Andersen is, but the numbers don't bear that out. - Wetbandit1
Andersen ranked 8th among goalies with 1500 mins minimum in high-danger sv percentage (336 HD shots against
Lehner ranked 29th (260 high danger shots against) |

Basically 2 2nds. And that's fine the Oilers are finally good. PC finally made a good move.
But you can't say we way overpaid without saying the Leafs did too. - Wetbandit1
The Leafs gave up slightly less for a much more proven commodity |

Andersen has the exact same 5 on 5 sv%, and a better high danger sv%.
He's better than Lehner - sbroads24
Yet, he still lets in a higher percentage of shots than Lehner. On a better team. |

I've been debating whether Colorado should protect him in the expansion draft or not. He had a baaadd year this year - chilliard77
I dont think they protect him bc hes not a very attractive selection for him. Bad year, coming off a major surgery. Easier to protect pickard instead to save both their goalie assets. Vegas wouldnt touch Varly when there are guys like Fluery available and Bishop as a UFA.
Varly is still talented goalie when he is on his game. Just hope hes back and healthy for once.

A better team that also gives up better chances in their own end. Leafs aren't a defensive dynamo either |

andersen lehner isnt even a debate worth having.
The number does however reveal something interesting, it might explain why they've asked ristolainen to play the way that he does (im referring to the shot heat map thats been posted here several times) |

Yep, and now we're down to splitting hairs. If he was that much better there would be none of that. That's my point. Have them switch places and I bet the numbers change with them. No one can stop that Komorov goal from Monday. Not even Hasek.
But Murray is a rube, and whoever is making the decisions in Toronto is a God. |

There was a slight age difference of the 2. What was Lehner 23 at the time of being traded? Anderson was 26-27?
A bit more attractiveness of potential in a younger Lehner...that would be my logical approach to it |

I think Toronto slightly overpaid, but Andersen is proven with playoff games under his belt.
They also didn't trade picks in a freaking loaded ass 1st round |

decent back up, dont think he will ever be a starter. He isnt consistent enough. He always lets it a short side shorty almost every game.
he has talent and can pull some games out of his ass but he is always prone for those soft early goals |

Except it is. Show me 2 goalies. One lets in a higher percentage of the shots against him on a good team, and the other on a "pathetic" team saves a higher percentage. My point is some people are so anti-Murray that they can't even give credit to a good player regardless of what the price was. Separate them for a second. |

i dont agree with this at all. its not like we can say andersen is facing far fewer high quality shots or something. Their D is there weakness, yet most of their fans/media would agree that hes been one of if not the mvp of this season. Ahead of Matthews. |

And Murray said as much. That he was young, had term, and was still an RFA after. But nope, Murray is a rube who got raked over the coals... |

Reminds me of Chad Johnson. Seemed like he was always good for one soft goal per game |
