Of course, but Ledecky and Malkin bought the team and were minority partners for two years. They had no final say in anything.
So Wang almost definitely gave Snow that contract right before he handed over the controlling equity stake to Ledecky/Malkin. - eichiefs9
I would have to see the contract of sale but it would make sense that L and M would have a say in any contract that would commence or continue after their majority stake takes place. If they didn't then they are morons and so is the attorney they used.
At the end of the day either way they shouldn't be penney wise and pound foolish. That 10 million dollars saving ( if its even that ) could cost them 100's of millions if the Team continues on the path its on . |

These are the same guys that asked Tavares's agent not once but twice to be PoHo. - Cptmjl
I hated hearing that. Unless this guy is seen as some hotshot POHO candidate around the league, it is dumb to keep going after this guy. |

They might have a say, but what's the point in having the controlling stake of ownership if you don't get the final say on everything? Ultimately they agreed to be minority partners for two years and they got (frank)ed on it. Either that or they knew and believed in Snow at the time. |

Any you don't think they knew about it? If it was an insane contract you bet your arse they would have said something. These guys aren't stupid. |

They could have cried and screamed til the cows came home, but if Wang owned 51% or more of the Islanders then they were SOL. |

I understand that and my point is since they knew about it and still took majority control how bad could the contract be? |

Im not an attorney but if Wang made this deal with Snow, regardless if Ledecky and Malkin now have controlling stake, that contract is valid. Im sure they knew about it, but there's always loopholes. Im not worried its just a selfish move by Wang to handcuff them in any way, all because he's rewarding his yes man, who probably explained what a two line pass was to him. |

They knew about and either have drank the Snow kool aide or they already incorporated firing him into the price of the team. |

I have no idea, I'm sure there's a way around it. I'm just saying I don't think it matters what Ledecky and Malkin did about it, they had no options at the time and now it's their problem to deal with.
I'm sure they could just hire a President of Hockey Ops to supersede Snow and solve the problem without having to even buy him out. |

Probably. Either way I'm almost willing to bet anything the contract has no bearing on whether or not they want to fire the guy |

Imagine having your agent become your GM? He'd go from trying to get the most money for you to trying to get you to sign for the least amount of money. |

I get that, but they wouldn't sign a contract where in the 2 years of minority ownership Wang had free reign on contracts that would continue after L and M had majority ownership. If so Wang could have signed his son to a 12 million dollar a year 10 year contract and L and M could do nothing about it. Come on who in their right mind would sign a contract without having protection against that exact thing.
If thats the case then they are fools and so are their attorneys and I doubt they are. |

I just don't know how much protection you could possibly build in. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend to be an expert on corporate law either. |

We all know when they became minority owners they were paying for Leddy & Boychuk's contract extensions. On paper they might not have been Majority owners but behind the scenes they sure were and that's why to me they were aware of everything including Snow's extension |

This makes the most sense, and why they've basically been speaking to anyone and everyone looking for a POHO. Total loophole... |

Its small potato's. There's always a way out. Hiring a POHO to oversee Snow is their out. Phuck Snow...and his extension. Hey Garth.....go grab me another cup a coffee. |

Whatever happened, it's not like it can't be fixed. Just astounding that Wang would do that on the way out the door. |

Its not corporate law Chiefs it's common sense.
Just ask yourself the question, Would you sign a contract and give a partner 2 years to do whatever he feels, and sign long term contracts that you would be responsible for after you have majority ownership without any input or discretion? The answer is a resounding NO.
Edit: If you don't agree I have a couple business deals I would like to offer you a partnership on |
