Understood. I get the mantra "you delegate the job, but you don't delegate the responsibility", but I also get that sometimes those in management get let down by their staff and support team and as a result, blame for failure can be shared. - Jethro09
Of course and a good GM or Owner would act a lot faster then Snow has |

Are you really going to go down this semantic route? Were they "professional" coaches? Come on. They were paid salaries to do their jobs and all of them have worked "professionally" in hockey for years before their jobs with the Isles. Each of Cappy, Weight and Cronin had many years of professionally working in hockey. Their ability and caliber can certainly be questioned, but they were professionals paid to do a job and they failed. - Jethro09
I wasnt trying to be semantical........my point was that like most guys employed by the isles they had no real experience. They had no track record. Sure Weight was a great hockey player, but that didnt make his PP coaching great. Like players, you cant just have a team of rookies. You gotta have guys who've got a history doing that job. From Snow to Capuano et al......it was fine with a team with nothing in complete rebuild mode. But, now is not the time for on the job learning.......not if they wanna take the next step. Which i'd imagine the new ownership wants to do after spending half a billy goat on this team. |

The job of a manager is to stop the bleeding before it gets out of control. Whether that's firing the coach, making a trade or calling up a young player. You have to do something. If you manage a business and it's losing money, do the owners come in and start talking to HR or the counter help? No, they go to the manager and find out why he/she let it get this bad. This is all on Snow. I get what you're saying, but Snow should've done something a looooong time ago to try to correct it. And he didn't. - Isleshockeyman
Absolutely. I totally agree and Snow should pay with his job. But I'm reluctant not to at least acknowledge that the player's and coaches' shortcomings played a role in this season's failure by simply saying "Snow was GM. This is all his fault. Fire him". |

Then you correct the staff. Whether that's replacing someone, training, punishment, what have you. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. But when you make the same mistake over and over and over, there has to be something done about it. |

What about 10 years of failure........and furthermore, should it take 10 years to address it? |

That's why I said I get what you're saying. Yes the players have to be held accountable, as do the coaches. However, when they keep going down the same path, you change something, correct it. |

I've been calling for Snow to be replaced for years. His time has come. It should have run out years ago. My point all along has been that the players and coaches were terrible and responsible for this season as well. |
