If you're going to ask Tavares to waste the rest of his career, it's going to cost you huge $$$

Yes I read it, i was asking what he meant, because i wasnt sure what wasnt the same. Perhaps you can explain? He bolded my saying that JT mentioned the cap........he did in fact mention the cap in his quotes.

Im sorry, did that guy not build cup teams in a few years? Any cup team is going to have a bad contract or two.......you're trying to win. Someone on here said yesterday that he's had 2 cups in 5 years, and Snows had one round win in 10 years and he still has a job. Hiring a guy like Lombardi shows the isles are serious about winning.

Not to mention he did a nice job with the Sharks as well even if they did not win a Cup. Lombardi drafted some nice talent with the Sharks. The guy is a proven winner despite the problems the Kings had after the two Cups.

It happens. He also built two cup champs...my how quickly people forget.

Finding a GM without several bad contracts to his name, is like finding a multi coloured unicorn that speaks swahili.

The goal for every team is to win the stanley cup. Lombardi has done that (twice). The isles to me have the players/assets, that with a few moves, and tweaks could be a cup team under the right manager. Im not all about trading youth, but a few moves of assets that are not in the league, in order to bring in NHL ready guys, is the difference. I can assure you Lombardi doesn't have a three goalie rotation, and or burying Pulock in the minors.....with a struggling PP.

I agree. To me this would be a no brainer move. Every GM will make questionable moves. The key is you keep going and do not hold onto mistakes like Garth does. If someone has a better person to hire than Lombardi I would love to know.

I'll be totally honest.......at this point i really just want Garth out. I dont even care who comes in, as I feel any GM thats hired will have had GM experience, as opposed to Garth who came in with none. For me personally, I will not go to a game if Garth is still GM. I had season tickets in the late 90's all the way till the last year at NVMC. To me, this year was the worst. I could see from training camp they had no flow.....no chemistry. You had a coach in his 5th years, with a team that was built from the same GM, and yet they were still figuring out lines weeks into the season. After the second week i knew this years roster was a fail, and I chirped Snow right away saying his roster this year couldnt beat last years. I got flack from most on here for it, but clearly this year was a failure.

The scuttlebutt had JT saying he likes Snow and wants him to stay. So let's do this. You own the Islanders. It's April 10th. JT comes to you and says "I want Garth as my GM. If he goes, I go". What do you do? Now I'm curious what you guys would do.

I don't see how they can wait to pull the trigger (literally, I wish) on Snow. If they're going to fire him they have to do it ASAP. Too much planning to do with the expansion draft, entry draft, Tavares, UFA, deals, etc... and very little time.

JT is a great player but should not be deciding who our next GM is or whether we should keep our old one. If that's the case trade him. Jesus this thread has gone full bonzo
- Cptmjl

Correct he's a player he may like a guy but he's not deciding who the Gm is. This is only day two of the off season we are in for a looooong off season in here. Also if the isles fire snow and not take Lombardi, you now have 2 open spot, where do you think the top gm choice will go?

Tallon was my 1st choice and that's out. Lombardi was my 2nd. Isles have not had a proven Exec since Neil Smith. I think they need one right now. An inexperienced POHO or GM is not the way to go IMO.

I thought the team would make the playoffs this year, but I did not like the teams chances at a long run especially with Cappy as coach and Garth as GM.

Agreed. Here's the question.........if they fire Snow, does Garth and or Capuano get hired as GM and coach respectively on any other team?

Ledecky has to move now. If he has any interest in Lombardi he needs to reach out this second.

Yeah I knew right away they weren't doing crap with this roster.......another failed summer, and the results are accurate. With the fact that the isles missed the playoffs coupled with the fact that Snow is spending almost to the ceiling, I don't see how he still is employed by this organization at this very moment.
