"Buffalo Sabres fans should be hoping and praying that Tampa GM Pat Verbeek interviews for and gets the Buffalo Sabres GM job.
Verbeek would likely work out a trade for Drouin to play left wing for Jack Eichel in Buffalo."
This is fantastic

But will it involve Murrency?! Whatever it is, it will be pricey for Buffalo, fantasy or not. |

Murrency has been devalued. By the time the draft comes around it will have negative value.
On a serious note. The price for Drouin was said to be high when he requested a trade and had proven nothing. I'd image the price would still high if not higher.
Who do they Sabres have that they could give up, that Tampa would want, and still make sense for the Sabres? Tampa is in win now mode so I doubt they want prospects and picks. So I think Nylander and picks is out the door, unless the sabres are really willing to over pay with picks. I can't see them wanting Kane. Honestly if teams where willing to offer anything decent for Kane, I think he would have already been traded. Do you swap Reinhart for Drouin? I can see the Sabres being interested in it as it gets them a natural winger for Jack. However would Tampa do it.
The two teams just don't seem like good trading partners at this point in time, at least to me.

Drouin and Eichel would kill it while playing together. Eichel could easily achieve 40G, 40 plus assist status with a dynamic winger like Drouin feeding him apples, and vice versa.
?? Pat Verbeek....Tampa GM? Did Yzerman step down. I thought Verbeek was AGM?
A Verbeek hire and a subsequent blockbuster deal with the Lightning is just speculation. Especially for a young gun in Drouin. Besides, the Sabres do not have the young players to make that deal. Reinhart and Nylander may get it done though. But then the cupboard will be really bare
More likely, the Lightning, with major cap issues will be moving players, but not young, skilled players who are still making relatively little money. They'd be looking to move players like Callahan, Killorn, Pallat, Garrison or Coburn. Even then, the Sabres don't have the players to move.
The Sabres messed up the rebuild. There is no quick fix. Time to draft and develop. Jack may not like it though |

If Drouin gets moved it will be a young dman who is already established.
