I think the most annoying thing in the history of this blog, I've been around here for 10 years, is nyr32793987654919's trade proposals.
There's been nothing even remotely close to it. - jimbro83

I don't find humor in how bad Stepan is either. I'm glad we agree |

Thanks for hanging in there Jan, and writing it up.
Honestly, I think Hank recognized that the game had the same feel as game 2 and was trying to wake everyone up. Hell I sensed it after Ottawa's first goal. Hank HAD to of. Then here comes one of our "leaders" and tells him to relax. Hey Derek how about you realize that the best player on the ice is trying to get the team to wake up and say something to the team instead of telling Hank to relax.
Obviously its speculation on my part that thats what was happening. - AmazingSav
The only sad part of your assessment is the Ranger who looked most like the Game 2 debacle was Lundqvist.

I'll say this much, I think at an aggregate level the Rangers have been the better team this series and might still come out on top. Games 3 and 4 were an absolute joke for the Sens. Whether you attribute that to a lack of effort by the Sens, an increased effort by the Rangers, or a combo of both, the result is the same.
I didn't think the Rangers were really scary in any of the other three games though. In 3 and 4 I felt hopeless by a certain point, but I never got that way in the three Ottawa won (okay, maybe a bit there near the end of Game 2 before the Pageau heroics). In those, the Sens looked as good (or bad) as they have all year when they pushed out their one goal wins, and that's what they did. If you don't watch them a lot, you'll chalk it up to luck, but I think the overall trend speaks to something more than just that.
The Sens have played the close game all season. If they win, unless there is an empty netter, I expect it to be by one goal. They'll lose that way too sometimes. When I see scores outside of that range, win or lose, it's because one of the teams played like crap. That's what happened in 3 and 4 when the Sens just deflated.
Hoping to see another good one Tuesday! And if it comes back to Ottawa, I'll be there to go down with the ship or ride it into the ECF. - SnipAndTip
The Rangers are clearly the better team that completely poop the bed in the last couple minutes of 2 of the games.

I would have settled for Draisaitl. It's funny though. Last year when I was saying McD for Draisaitl everyone laughed and said he's unproven blah blah, I'm an idiot for wanting Draisaitl blah blah. - nyrangers9479
You are an idiot. As Jim has said, do you not think that Edmonton knew what they had in Draisaitl? They weren't going to trade him for anything other than a package that would have completely gutted our roster. Just because you want a player doesn't mean the trade works.
If they had done that, you would be on here female doging about how bad our defense is and telling us how smart you are because you would just trade Staal for Doughty. |

From the way it was reported on CBC, and I agree after rewinding it a couple times, Step felt the need to quiet Hank because it was Skjei he was barking at. He has a lot less experience in the playoffs and Step may have been concerned the public berating would erode the rookie's confidence. If it's anyone else, maybe he leaves well enough alone.
As for comments about luck, I get it. But, Miro's right. You make your own luck. The Sens wanted it more at the end. What I find frustrating is that it seems like almost all of our goals are coming off speed or skill plays and most of their's are goalmouth scrambles. We are definitely the better team overall, IMO, but if you don't play a full 60 minutes you don't win games.
I will never in my life understand why continuing to play the way you built your 2 goal lead is not good enough to finish out a game!!!!!! |

no goalie in the league gives the type of death stares and screaming at his own players like Hank does... that poop would piss me off after awhile. esp in a game where he isn't coming up with saves he should be... |

Absolutely true...and I've never liked it when he does that in game. Never.
I do, however, have trouble faulting him for not stopping ones that WE feel he should stop, considering the fact that he stops several he has no business getting almost every game. |

Hedman with an absolute bomb to make it 3-2 Sweden vs USA in Worlds (end 1st). Possibly one of the hardest shots I've seen. |

very good point and I am not pinning that game Saturday on Hank but he should shoulder some of the blame for sure and screaming like a mad man at his defense isn't going to help poop |

Well, for a hockey player from Norway - the Worlds and the Olympics are the only possibilities to play against top players... Other than that, I would agree. |

Of course, in the days prior to the internet, nyr9479 never admitted that he handed out flyers at MSG in the late 1970's saying that the Rangers should trade a very young & promising, Rick Middleton to the Bruins for a very aged Ken Hodge (to satisfy Espo's demand to acquire Hodge).
If Nashville goes on to a Cup victory, I'm sure he will claim here that he said we should have traded Hank to them for Renne, right after Renne's rookie season.
I wonder what he was saying about Stepan after his very first NHL game, or after scoring that series clinching Double OT goal against the Caps. |

Before my time but the old school guys (my Uncle) all say that is hands down the worst Ranger trade ever. In my era both the ZuBOV deal & Miller & Ridley for Carpenter deals are the worst. |
