Absolutely. Rochester has been horrible the past handful of years. You need to put a winning team together there first.

This

If we don't groom our talent they will never be great here. they may be great somewhere else or just never develop which is sad and a waste of effort and talent.

I like the hire. He's done many things well, especially with the minor league team and the cap BUT....

how much of it actually matters if they dont have Crosby, Malkin Letang?

Not saying hes incapable of finding another high end guy, just that hes got a bigger challenge here than he did with Pit.

Well Dallas landing Bishop before FA period is a serious clause in the system

Do we need to make another one of those "member berry" moments to see who didn't like this hire and who liked it?

Jochfr - Indifferent
Beezer33 - Botterill looking even better than Murray
Sabres 89 - Fire him already Stinks and has does nothing (Sarcasm)
Deuce81 - very appealing
BeadyEyedDouche - likes the Botteril hire
boos--likes his creds yet cautiously optimistic
Stripes - is on board with the hire

- jochfr

I pretty much repeat boos' sentiments. He comes highly regarded and said all the right things.

I have the same question as I did with Tim Murray though. He did a great job while someone else took responsibility for the team's directions. How well does he do being "the guy" and where he is ultimately responsible for the team's performance?

I always have liked the hire, he sounded knowledgeable and professional. Different from Murray, not that i'm saying Murray wasn't, he just had a different way of showing it.

Lehtonen makes more money then your star center, Seguin.

I'm cautiously optimistic for sure. Really like that he's saying we have to be way more involved (the Sabres level mgmt) with Rochester. Like that he said he wants to build a winner at two levels.

Though, not too many hires are going to come in and say I plan on gutting the farm system to bring NHL guys in, we don't give a crap about the AHL level.

Which is kind of how I felt the last mgmt team was, though I could be wrong.

5 mil sounds like fair value all things considered, just too many years.

I would love to see a GM with the guts to not give anyone other than elite talent more than a 3 year deal, possibly 4.

Hate how they cap the amount you can read on the Buffalo News. Getting around it with cached Google version or In-Private Browsing.

So, he was playing through a concussion, then got ill from medication he was taking to suppress symptoms?

Trying to figure out the timeline between the rib injury and when he received a concussion.

I think with the exception of Maata the pens did that, and even then thats one of those we're betting on a young guy outperforming this contract in the latter years kinda deal.

I think that's a pretty good deal for Bishop. I wouldn't mind if the Sabres had signed him to that
