fix the d first. bonus points for moving out bad contracts without giving up too much or taking back garbage. no point in giving a preliminary grade. - rover16
I get the feeling that Botterill isn't going to do things like that. I'm not going to lie, I kind of love the fact that the GM is also a guy that knows how to manage the cap too. Makes me wonder how many teams actually have that. I would think that in a majority probably have a second guy in place that handles most of that (like Botterill did for the GM in Pitt). |

Do we need to make another one of those "member berry" moments to see who didn't like this hire and who liked it?
Jochfr - Indifferent
Beezer33 - Botterill looking even better than Murray
Sabres 89 - Fire him already Stinks and has does nothing (Sarcasm) (he actually likes the hire)
Deuce81 - very appealing
BeadyEyedDouche - likes the Botteril hire, hates racism
boos--likes his creds yet cautiously optimistic
Stripes - is on board with the hire (but can't ref for sh!t)
ChicmjBuffalo - Want's us to know that JBot was already a GM in the AHL
feet - withholding judgment for further review and wears cornrows to work
burner087 - Likes his looks (Not that there is anything wrong with that)
Clown - is already drunk this morning but thinks the hiring is refreshing
Sabresfan-365 - Likes the hire but will dish out backhanded compliments until he's fired
Buff 19 - Is too lazy to say yes or no to liking the hire... Will be optimistic until Botty #5 (frank)s up a trade or extension
gcomella34 - Is wrapped in caution tape so I assumed he just murdered a prostitute
Irish - I like Botterill hire! (something, something Housley)
Sbroads24- Botterill is the tits (Colin White also agrees)
SDSabre - Happy to be here with the exception of reading everyone's filth
ImThatGuy - Has CTE
rover16 - Hates us all
GooseHonker - Likes what he has to say - jochfr

I like the point that JB already has GM experience. It may have been in the AHL, but he was the one in charge of the Baby Penguins. I am encouraged by the fact that he wants to utilize that model he with Rochester.
What has happened here, GMTM in charge of both clubs, obviously hasn't worked so far. Rochester's record says a lot about this.
I like that he said that winning is a part of development. Because it is.
If the younger players don't know what it means to win before they get here, they are just happy to be here and won't put forth the extra effort needed to get to that next level. I think this is one of those ideas that Eichel was pissed about towards the end of the year last year.
Now, JB will have a lot to do in the coming weeks, but I think one of the more important ones will be the repairing of the relationships between the club and some of the players...good luck JB. I am rooting for you.
BTW, has anyone heard of any updates about Okposo? - ChicmjBuffalo
Wasn't noted Gunslinger, Poker Player, Ice water through his veins, Tim Murray hired largely on his "experience" of being the GM in Binghampton? In the end, all the Murrency and Premium Picks could help save the man. The Emperor whore no clothes. Even Garth finally admitted that
The NHL is an unforgiving league. All GM's work hard, long hours, know the players at the pro and junior levels. Botterill is not unique in that regard. He looks to be a good choice. But you will only know after two, maybe three years from now. Until then, chill with all the groundbreaking moves he will make. His competitors (those with actual GM experience) will be looking to achieve the same goals |

1) First off, it's Binghamton. Yes we're touchy, this town sucks.
2) If he was wearing a bunch of whores to work, I can see why Pegula kept saying we need "character". |

Brandon was the one that called Rutherford and asked permission to set up the interview with Botteril.
