If he's half as smart as everyone says then he will know that is the priority. It WILL be tough to sell of Bogo or Gorges to anyone and those are the two defenders that, for the money, we could upgrade substantially from getting rid of, so perhaps he's just being realistic.

I think Botterhill is a good hire and will have better results than Murray. Who he hires as head coach will go a long way in determining whether he is successful or fails.

There's so many teams with Expansion protection issues...
absolutely no excuse not to take advantage
I'm not saying we need to get a legit #1 or even a #2...
it's possible those types won't be moved
But guys like Manson or Vatanen could be available, Hamonic or De Haan, Brodin or Scandella, etc etc etc
We need AT LEAST a solid 2nd pair quality guy, if not 2

i realize but other teams will be looking for these guys too. and beyond that you have to find the right fit. You mentioned six names there, i see 3 names that could really fit in and help us right away one of whom (hamonic) probably wont be available at a price we like.

I'm withholding judgment on Bogo until he gets his new coach. He was sheltered in WPG but had better numbers...we'll see if a different prospective works. Remember his first game as a Sabre when he had like 13 hits in the game? Boy I don't, but I'd like to.
