Kaps alone wont get you a top 4 dman....he would just be a piece.
As of now, Kap looks to be a quality bottom 6 player.

Report on him is he isnt consistent but can score big goals (as we've seen).

Yes he can. Cheap, young, nhl ready, expansion exempt. That's valuable to a team that had an abundance of dman they can't protect. Those team can't take a jvr cAuse they just transfer the protection problem to the forward position.

If they can't get a top 4 dman (they surely can) then makes no sense to move him.
