So Grant McCagg just tweeted the following
"I can't shake the feeling that Philly will do some dealing with Vegas & others.. end up with the 6th pick & 3 first rounders by draft day"
I asked for clarification on twitter, and he said 3 total firsts, then went on to say he believes Glass could be a top line center... the more I think about this, the more I would be ok with this going down.
Thoughts. - flyers4487
seriously if they move 2 for 6 and a goalie, my love affair with Hextall will be done when they could have just kept Mason. |

I think that's kind of a silly question. The point is there is no "fair value" the only way I'd move that pick is for a clear overpayment. - Mordecai
Exactly. You don't trade it for fair value.

But we agree.
It needs to be a complete overpayment |

Just curious if you were in Hextall's position and a team (your pick) offered you a package (reasonable, not McDavid and 5 1sts) for the #2...
What kind of package would you think be a tough call, but in the end you would say I would be nuts not to accept?
Again just curious, not trying to MJL you. - Glak18
If we're talking Vegas, it would take multiple 1sts -- like 6th-overall + 15th-overall + their 1st from next year. |

If someone promotes Suzuki as better than Patrick he quietly gets fired before July 1.
If they trade back even a couple picks they had better be right about the player they select because that's the kind of move that could be career ending. - mayorofangrytown
That's why my preference is to stay at #2 and make the pick. After Patrick however, my 2 preferred centers would be Glass and Suzuki. |

Not really silly at all, but what is that line of overpayment?
3 1st round picks? So you may get 3 potential good players for 1 potential great one, is that really overpayment? All depends on who's 1st round picks they are and where they end up being. I would rather have Nico or Nolan over 3 picks in the 20s.
For me unless a prospect/young player the level of a Marner is included with a pick or two it's not overpayment enough. Vegas doesn't have the assets to really get a real perspective of a package, which is why I asked for any team to gauge judgement. |

I mean I could give you a serious example but it would still be an astronomical overpayment. I'd want something completely ludicrous like 5 1sts+ |

Truth.
From 13 to 2. You just can't f#@k this up.
I wish they held the draft immediately after the lottery. All this time to over think the process is giving me agita. |

Actually my deal was:
They take AMac, Read and Weise along with #2 overall and we get #6, another top 12 pick in 2017, their unprotected 1st in 2018, our choice of any goalie on their roster, our choice of any Dman on their roster and our choice of any forward on their roster, and, if any of the players we choose have cap hits greater than 3.5 million they need to retain the difference.
That deal, I would make.

It's very interesting. "It's a weak draft so let's trade the #2 overall to get more picks in this weak draft".

Salary dumps should be left out of the value of the deal. It's just not that important for the Flyers right now comparatively.

I agree!! I wish people would get off this we must dump MacDonald at whatever cost it takes. Flyers have no major cap issues and when they do end up having to resign young players AMac will be long gone. |
