Hopefully that top line winger you speak of is not named James Neal...because you know you said top line and he is not.
Ditto as above (goaltender wise) that doesn't have horse teeth.
#1 center at pick 6...when most people don't even know if pick 1 and 2 are even #1 centers? - Glak18
Neal is very capable of scoring 30 goals on a top line with power play time. And is one last year of contract which if we somehow miss the playoffs could be turned into assets.
And Fluery did good in this years playoffs and is the best goalie you can get without giving huge money or term. It's almost a perfect fit. |

Willing to listen to offers ≠ Not being excited about Nico/Nolan - Tomahawk
The reasons you've given for being willing to listen to offers indicates a lack of excitement for either player in my opinion. If Patrick becomes an all situations 1C, even if he is in the bottom tier of that category, he will be a far more valuable player than a player such as Marner will ever be.

It might be a perfect fit if the Flyers were in win now mode. Neal is not a great piece.

When did Nico/Nolan turn into OV/Malkin? - Tomahawk
Thank you! People in this forum are over rating the #2 pick. I understand the biggest need for the team is a #1C but my goodness people have gone silly. |

In my opinion many are underrating the #2 pick and it's importance to the Flyers. Stating that anyone is comparing it to selecting Malkin is hyperbole. Nobody has done that. |

It's not closed. They could give us a top line left winger. A number 1 goalie. A 6th overall in this draft and their 2018 first which will likely be a top 3-5 pick.
So to move down 4 spots we get a LW for Giroux and a Number 1 goalie to hold the spot till Hart or Sandstrom is ready plus a chance at a franchise player in next years draft, not just a number 1 center and possibly still get a number 1 center with the 6th overall. - youarewrong
I'm being serious, bc I haven't fully examined who is available, but what players are talking about? The goalies are being said to be had for third round picks. MAF? We want to trade the second to have MAF as our starting goalie? By all accounts it's the top two and then the rest are meh in terms of moving down. Plus with NHL parity who says their pick will be top 5.
Just make the pick and if you want a goalie trade a 3rd. Now is not the time to play mad scientist. Make the pick and continue on the path you've built. Let's not play games here. |

I don't know how many times I have to keep saying that I KNOW THE OFFERS I PUT UP ARE LUDICROUS THAT'S THE POINT YOU DON'T JUMP THAT MANY SPOTS THEN GIVE AWAY THE PICK FOR "FAIR VALUE" |

Just sayin
Max Talbot came here from Pittsburgh and had a career year
Jaromir Jagr spurned Pittsburgh to come here and helped Giroux have his best year ever
Marc Andre Fleury is next. |

No reason for the Flyers to pay a premium for any stop gap player. They're not close to being a contending team.

That's pretty silly. Marner could be another Patrick Kane, who is worth more than a bottom tier 1C. |

It's the #2 pick in a draft where the top 2 players are set apart. Those 2 players just happen to play the position where you will have the most need in a few years' time. So yes, since you have no incentive to trade down, you better get a ludicrous package. |

I got this sickening picture in my head...
The Flyers trade for MAF and by mid-season newspaper headlines read "We traded for a flower and got a weed".
Sounds about right.
FYI: I just patented that headline, no takeys! |
