See i don't think 3 years at 5million is that bad for an expansion team. Because they will have some short term deals so he gives 3 years of cost certainty for a top 4 guy.

3 years, $5m AAV, $16.5m in total salary doesn't seem like good value to me, or to the Flyers who left him exposed in favor of Manning.

Demers, Martin and Methot were also exposed, but their teams protected better defensemen than Brandon Manning.

It's a close call, but I am Team Nolan as well. I feel he fits better with the Flyers current and future makeup of the team.

Nico Hischier may be a more dynamic player than Patrick, but I don't see him ready for the NHL next year. I personally think if he makes the Devils he will struggle a bit at first. That will determine whether he becomes a good NHL player, a dynamic superstar or a pressured 1st pick bust.

Basically 3 rookies on a line. That could be a super disaster in the making. Lindblom could work well with Giroux. Personally I would have Voracek or Simmonds with Patrick.
