They clearly did not draft the best team, if they wanted to be cutthroat about it and not take picks. I understand that NHL GMs don't want to step on toes at times and sour relationships, but I think there's legit arguments that those picks are less valuable than some of the players they let them keep.

agreed. when you look at some names like dumba and manson and vatanen, its hard to think that a late first is necessarily worth more, if thats even what it was.
