Just heard Nick Kypreos on Toronto radio saying the Flyers are one team he is hearing are looking for a " major shake up"
Who knows, but I can't see Hextall doing that... Homer yes!! - 3flyerkids
It's all just speculation at this point, but we'll know for sure in about 36-40 hours.

VDV and Bellemare both gone could be considered a major shake up - arichardson22
Hak would agree

So, over/under 24 hours until the #2 overall pick is traded? - jmatchett383
or will the Flyers move a core piece today or tomorrow? I remember the Carter/ Richards day....the day they added Pronger......the day they added pick # 4 (pitkanan) for fedotenko....The Flyers have a history of Draft "time" deals. Yes Hexy seems a tad more patient, but as listed above they do have a # issue up front (albeit not a huge one).

They may have a number's issue up front, the key word is may. Vecchione and Leier are far from locks to make the team and, if the pick is Nico, he may end up back in Junior for a year to build up strength. At that point, you'd be down to 13 forwards, assuming Weal re-signs, which is the minimum number they would carry. Other than re-signing Weal or someone to replace him and picking up a goalie in trade of via FA, it wouldn't shock me at all if Hexy just stood pat.

I think they will carry 14 forwards this season, though it is unfortunate because pretty much everyone left seems useful. Lindblom could start in the AHL as well |

Yeah, I think they carry 14 too, but I'm glad. It's nice, for the first time in years, to actually have too many forwards that can play rather than not enough. Plus, as we all know, there will be injuries at some point and these things usually end up working themselves out over the season. I think it's a safe bet that the 12 forwards and line combos used in game 1 of the season probably won't be the same as the ones we see in game 82. |

Well last year I guaranteed it when it was clear Boyd Gordon was starting. This year there isnt an obvious "guy that shouldnt be in the NHL" |

I actually think this could happen. If they take Patrick and think he is NHL ready (I would think Nico goes back to juniors next year) and they want to get back into the middle-end of the first round, they may move him. |

Here is the thing.
With Vegas you have kind of this weigh station to use to make 3 team trades or places to house bad contracts as long as your paying them(picks and prospects).
I could see Hextall moving someone we wouldn't expect, but it would have to fit with the plan moving forward. Getting the number 2 pick could change some things in the top 6 possibly. |

2nd level thinking right here. Mikey Miss would be proud.
In terms of a "major shakeup" would they consider doing something like this with Voracek? (as I believe his NMC has not kicked in yet) I don't think I would. The cost would just be too high. |

I for one liked PEB. Sad to see him go.
Is it going to devastate the team? Of course not. But I liked him. - Giroux_Is_God
Same. Well, I'm not literally sad, but I did like him. |

He doesn't have one. Hextall hasn't given trade protection in any of his contracts.

it really depends on where Hextall see's some of these guys and their development. you may be right....they may not see a problem at all....or they may try and move some bodies out.

I am not sure about Voracek.
I could see maybe Schenn or possibly Simmonds. I have actually turned around on Schenn but I could see Simmonds sold for a huge haul.
But again any deal would have to fit Hextalls now and future plan. |

The only long term bad contract Vegas took was Clarkson, and CBJ paid them a hefty price to do so.
So much for all those ideas about them taking cap anchors like Brown or MacDonald without inducement because they supposedly would need them to reach the cap floor. |

I know Simmonds has the high value now but if you're moving him I really think you just need to tear the entire old core down with G and Jake as well. I mean those guys are going to be 33 by the time the picks you get for Simmonds are hopefully contributing in a meaningful way. |
