I think he knows what he has in guys who have been NHL'ers for 3+ years.

The league just has to be satisfied it wasn't pre-cooked or part of a broader transaction that is attempting to circumvent exp draft rules

Calgary didn't give a qualifying offer, so he could listen to other teams if he isn't signed by the Flames. Chiasson played in 81 games with the Flames in 2016-17, while producing 12 goals and 12 assists. He didn't have a point in four playoff matches.

I don't think he's gonna sign ppl just to sign ppl either though
Most UFAs aren't gonna be part of the future here
So unless he thinks signing them will get us to the playoffs...
Then what reason would he have to do something like replace Girgensons with Versteeg?

There are some guys we would like to get, but there are also other guys we would like to get. And all of that is complicated by the fact that we really don't want to get rid of the good guys we already have. This is especially challenging becuase "GOOD" is not something everyone agrees on. So if we can work out the complications, we're definitely going to try to get either some of the guys we want, or some of the other guys, who we would also like.

But that's just what I'm hearing. Don't shoot the messenger. And be patient.
