no you're right, it certainly doesn't scream ELITE or NHL lock by any means, but I really hate losing prospects/picks for nothing. Russian factor needs to be taken into account when drafting. - Codes1087
I agree, I'd prefer to draft them in the 4th round and later only, but usually the ones playing in the CHL are safer bets to stay.
Zhuke was a 4th round pick, my issue was that his upside wasn't really worth picking him there if you weight his realistic upside as a bottom 6 player against him being Russian and/or not being skilled enough for the NHL.
If you're going to draft a Russian, do it late, but also make it more a boom/bust pick with a chance to hit a lottery, and not just a 3rd/4th liner at best. Otherwise you might as well draft someone else. |

This is funny. Green is known to not trust young players in the AHL. Awards ice time to vets... even the poopty ones.

Some seem to think next year will be completely different. I think one young player might see an increased role, possibly 2. Less of a chance if they bring in someone like Weal/Yak/Grig to eat those minutes |

I can see your points with that.
The good news is that both Jasek and Zhukenov signing 2 year deal will give us 1 year after their deals are done to work on an ELC to retain rights. Depending on their development of course. Not worst case scenario. |

I think ice time will be dished out much in the same manner as WD. The trust will be with the vets as usual. I really didn't see WD handling the kids much different than any other coach in the NHL to be honest. Some have been way worse than him in the past... even here like AV.

Agreed, I do think Green pays a little more attention to things like zone starts and a few other metrics, which will help situational advantages for players. But in terms of actual minutes I also think it will be pretty close |

from 6M x 3 Years to 1x1...that's what happens when a GM is actually aware that a guy only wants to play for 4-5 teams max and most of them already have starters |

Lol I liked AV – deploys a pretty boring style of hockey but effective none-the-less. The guy chewed gum like a god damn camel though. |

I probably would too, there's definitely a lot of stress involved and you have to deal with it somehow or you'll lose your mind. Either chew gum like a mad man, yell at everyone like torts, or look like a psychopath like WD |
