2017 Canucks draft class to current NHL comparables (playing style) - Per Canucks Army

•Elias Pettersson – Nicklas Backstrom
•Kole Lind – Joe Pavelski
•Jonah Gadjovich – Chris Kunitz
•Michael DiPietro – Jonathan Quick
•Jack Rathbone – A Dude (yet to see him play, sorry)
•Kristoffer Gunnarsson – Andrej Sustr
•Petrus Palmu – Mikael Granlund
•Matt Brassard – Don’t even want to try, though I have watched him

gadjovich looks more like bertuzzi on some of those highlight plays videos

I thought Gagner was from Ontario?
- dbot

He is that was my bad, but he did spend a few of his formative years in Vancouver but is from London.

I have no problem with Canucks retaining rights on players going to Europe to develop rather then Comets. It leaves more room to sign more prospects for AHL. Plus European leagues develop skill and skating better and are higher profile then AHL.

Either way. I can't see him signing here.
He did a show me contract last year with CBJ and smashed it.
He should cash in this year (either sign with a good team or get paid/long term deal), which won't happen here.

JB's best hope is to unearth a Gagner like player this year, and sign him to a show me deal and flip him at the deadline.

Martin Hanzal??

As per @DarrenDreger, pending UFA Jordan Weal will be visiting with the #Canucks tomorrow.

We are new the new destination of choice. Young players are anxious to play with Loui and Gaunce

Really?! JB signing gagner for 4 years sounds like a pretty JB move to me.

Yes and that's why Nucks should only sign young UFA's to show me contracts too. If they work out extend for longer. If they smash it and can get value at TDL then win win. If not they can move on with no circumstances other then having more competition for prospects to break through.

I could see all and any being of interest, clearly Weal has been reported by multiple sources which is great news IMO. It all begs the question of what Caucks would have to give to get someone to sign here... much like vantel just joked about, this is not an attractive place to play based on the dollar and team. Basically someone has to get paid what they want and for how long or to love Vancouver as a city. There is opportunity to play bigger minutes, Hanzal is quite established and shouldn't have any problems finding work IMO

Gagner could actually make our inept PP much better. i can't remember the last time we had a right handed playmaker on the left side jalf wall. Especially when we seem to deploy left handed dmen to qb the pp
- Itsjustarash

Not sure how Gagner is going to make the Sedins and Edler better on the PP. Plus the guy can't really score on even strength so why have him here? We can't surround Gagner with the same quality players CLB could so how he would succeed here is beyond me.

Cycling down low on just the right side hardly lets Gagner factor in.
When we have no threat on the point we r shutdown easily.

Is Travis Hamonic that much better the Marc Methot? What a big difference in return. Dallas either won a lotto or Cal got completely takin to the cleaners.

Here is hoping that TG uses the Sedins as a 2nd unit

I would agree Hanzal and Gagner will get paid. Weal I would be interested in and perhaps Condon in goal.

Dallas got a steal, Methot is solid. But yes, Hamonic is better.

I don't see a hurry. Let Markstrom sink or swim and let Bachman back him. We are finishing 30 th anyways
