Most interested in LTIR Hoss status and its key dates. All else follows that. |

Really appreciate the daily updates you're providing JJ. Makes this exciting time of year even better! |

Good takes, JJ.
I don't know much about the Canucks player. |

Wow first. Thanks for the update . Gagner's I don't see point if we need to lose AA to make it happen . Not young fast or tough . I would pass unless it's a 1.5 m or less |

Joe Cramarossa has pretty poor underlying numbers and kind of bleeds shots. I haven't watched much of him though. The Hawks have taken guys like him and made them decent PKers |

Been waiting all morning for your update! Thanks JJ. Really appreciate the insight. Hard to believe the league actually has to rule on Hossa LTIR, seems a pretty cut and dry CBA right. Maybe the Hawks are waiting for clarification regarding timeline and cap ramifications... I see no way Hawks have a recapture penalty on this. Thanks again! |

JR,
Not picking on you, but my head is going to explode if we continue to make assumptions about how a guy will play in Chicago on his numbers with another team (and a bad one), another coach, linemates etc.
This is how some have arrived at the conclusion that David Rundblad was really "great" when he played in Chicago.
Context is, in fact, everything.

Gagner would be interesting together with Kane. Think that is the #1 target they should go for, if he doesn't cost more than 3M for 3 years. |

I agree, that's why I put that last line in there. Desi was a 40% Corsi guy before he came to CHI and then he was above 50% |

Thanks for keeping us in the Loop JJ.
Hoping Alzner is not where we go.
As for the Hossa thing. Hope league does right thing, which is treat him like every other LTIR in the recent past.....how can they do otherwise??? |

I thought Runblad was a healthy scratch on a bad AZ team most days. I think looking at numbers you can see if there maybe is some untapped value. Paniks number were not bad. Murphy's numbers are not great in a nut shell but they are good for AZ. Pan numbers are great until you take him away from Kane. Then they are more AVG also any chance people can find how many Empty Net goals Pan had the last 2 years. I feel like it was a fair amount. |

After knowing the Hossa situation... moves will be made.
i like AA to CBJ for Boone Jenner, then pick up Gagner on the cheap.
Kruger to vegas for Karlsson or Lindberg.
Hossa + to CAR for cap relief. |

Does the eventual rise (speculation) of Dubois in Columbus make Jenner expendable in the future?
poop, I'd give AA and a 1st for Boone Jenner. |

Count me in this camp on Gagner. First off he plays small and is a liability in his own end. Two things StanBow has pivoted from in "reshaping" this group.......... He went 6 overall to be a skill top 6 C and until last year he failed to reach 50 points and it wasn't in that role. He failed in that role as a 22-24-26 yr old I doubt he becomes that hoped for player now, a top 6 guy.
Now Torts slotted him perfectly. A 13 minute a night sheltered playoff specialist. Add if he was Kane's 2nd line C right now the LW on that line is Schmaltz. A line of Schmaltz-Gagner-Kane would never win a board battle or get the puck back once lost.
Gagner as a bottom line PP specialist emergency top 6 fill in at a dirt cheap contact would be the only way he can help any team IMO. |

Any chance that the league rules against the Hawks on Hossa? That would really tie the hands of the Hawks in what they can do via trade and free agency. I think most of us think it's a slam dunk that they rule in favor of the Hawks but with the NHL you can never be sure. |

Sure, JJ the Hossa resolution may come soon, but it probably won't change the fact i starts at game two, not now.
I am curious to see if the hawks can make an agreemnet whereby the agree on a trade for a rostered player, but it actually gets finalized at the game two mark of the season.
(I think that is illegal, just as shady as the Hossa year off not retirement.)
I realize the hawks are constricted to tardes for Cap reasonable players, but I think the return guys have to fit.
With that said, did Gagner after a chances in different cities and the departures out of them show improvement?
You can look at the increased scoring PP prowess exclusively, but wasn't he yet another guy who wasn't a blazer, wasn't able to hold a centre ice job, and becamse a winger simply because he didn't beta out centres on his other teams?
In my humble opinion, Gagner =s one half Anisimov.
And DelZotto...ditto....he is really poor in his end, and his former teams sent him packing b/c they weren't gonn pony up more $$$ for on the jib training.
I don't care if he dating Sameulsson's daughter or son, for that matter, if he is not acquired on the REAL cheap, I am gonna say no. |

Is the Hossa decision regarding whether he can be placed on LTIR now vs. waiting until the start of the season or is it a decision regarding whether he can be placed on LTIR at all? |

IMO doubtful but, this is the NHL where what is goalie interference changes from game to game and there are more obscure interpretations of off-sides then anyone knew.

IMO there is about a 5% chance CLB would move Jenner. This guy is their Hossa, Toews, Hammer, Seabs as far as heart and soul guy and can play all 3 forward positions (fill in as a centerman) as well as bring all the grit with a sprinkle of skill that any roster would love.
The 5% chance of him being moved IMO is if they sign Kovulchuk only because they'd have plenty of forwards and would listen to offers on Jenner.
I like JJ's thoughts on Calvert and if Kovulchuk is signed maybe an Oliver Bjorkstrand (22 yr old top 6 possibility skill guy) or a Jenner lite in wrecking ball Josh Anderson. |

JJ thanks for all the updates! Good to see Bowman reportedly being active in a lot of discussion.
Now, if I have to watch Tomas Jurco for a whole season, I'm going to lose it! I didnt know you could play in the NHL and not pass the puck. Why are the Hawks so hot and heavy on this clown? Package him in a trade and get him the hell out! |
