The 1040 was just saying Canucks traded for Demers? from Fla? - VANTEL
Not seeing this anywhere, but Demers is a solid 2nd pairing dman. |

He's drafted or signed former teammates that are prospects four times , there is no such thing as coincidence. I wouldn't be surprised if their were more that I'm missing, seems to like this as a strategy. (thought it was a great idea with WD and the med hat boys too)
Demko/Rathbone
Dahlen/Petterson
Palmu/Gadjovich
Stecher/Boeser - neem55
Looks like he has do everything the same with invites to development camp invitees as well.

You said a bunch of economic words without any real explanation, there are now 5 players making 10 million or more. There will be more now that this is a set precedent for agents. It's pretty simple: When every team has a 10 million dollar player, the cap will have to adjust. The nature of any capitalist system is to expand, as it did this year. - neem55
Larger contracts squeezes out the middle class contract.
Capitalism has no bearing on NHL economics other than contract juggling eg shedding. Supply & demand. Revenues & expenses.
Cap system sets limits & contract $$$'s r finite.
When was the cap last increased without the escalator being invoked by the NHLPA? |

I am not sure what that means. You are implying we are in a lose now scenario? Unfortunately for fans like yourself that favor the aggressive tank, the organization doesn't agree. |

I'm interested in finding out what we have. You can take chances when you know you aren't really in contention. Keeps us aggressive fans interested. If it's apparent he's not NHL ready then send him back. |

I like that Brackett seems to be running the entire draft now, Linden said some encouraging things about him:
1) He looked to trade down multiple times because he knew he could still a prospect he wanted a bit later. Even if no one bit on a trade, it's good to know that he was comfortable trading down and wasn't too paranoid about losing one of his target players
2) Kind of ties into the first point. He was high on Palmu and identified him as a target, but didn't reach for him and pulled the trigger on him late instead.
3) Apparently he's open minded to both analytics and just raw scouting. Matt Brassard likely falls into the category, since apparently loves to shoot the puck, so he makes sense as a bit more of an analytical pick as well as a pick that scouts would like since he has some nice attributes and is a project player with upside.
I feel good about him running the drafts for us - Nucker101
Yeah seems to have a good head for talent. Liked how he explained the process into the picks. Wonder how staffing changes will go now to help his agenda more.

Buying low on Demers would allow Canucks to not rush Juolevi and also frees up the possibility to move Gudbranson or Tanev |

Just curious why would Florida do this and if so what would they want from the Canucks? |

If we can't rush our kids what's the point of having them. Same as why would anyone ever get married if they still need to do dishes? |

I can't see it mentioned anywhere else. Maybe someone just suggested Demers as a possibility and it grew from there?
Makes sense if they are planning to move Tanev for forward help before July 1. |

4.5 million over the next 3 years, for a 29 year old... I understand bridging the gap between veterans and rookies, but I am not quite sure this is worth it. At all... |

Dmen can play well until around 32-ish. The cost must be cheap, Florida exposed Demers in the expansion draft and Tallon is getting rid of all the players the moneyball guys signed last year.
If they can move Tanev for a nice return then it makes a ton of sense.
Picks/Prospects or young top 6 forward from Tanev trade + Demers >> Tanev
