Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks free-agency update, profiling draft pick Petrus Palmu The Vancouver Canucks are looking at Anders Nilsson as an option in net if Ryan Miller doesn't re-sign and considering Paul Postma on the blue line. Plus, a look at sixth-round draft pick Petrus Palmu.

Great stuff Carol, between this and the BR you covered a lot of ground. Palmu and Gunnarsson both are eligible to go straight to Utica, I think that was intentional. Couple more days!

@ Don continuing our Palmu discussion my response from last thread. How appropriate with Carol's focus there too.

Hopefully he can stick in the AHL this year. That would be a huge win for a late round pick. He is a longshot despite his skill. 5 franking 6

Palmu signed a contract to play in Europe which will probrably serve him better to improve speed and shot. Playing against men there will prove out he can survive. If he continues to develop by processing the game at a high level and speed he's a legit player.

Guadette was a 5th rounder and we have him as a top prospect so yeah JB seems to be able to find the gems in the later rounds. I am not a fan of short players. But the more I see this kid play the more I think he can make it like Theo Fleury did. He's got the same kind of build and drive that makes him hard to knock.

Is it just me or do Palmu and Gadjovich look like more than just friends?

My wife doesn't even look at me the way Palmu is looking at Gadjovich with those eyes.

I think carol gets paid to do this. I don't think she's doing it because she feels sorry for us. Probably does anyway.

Maybe you should thank EK for hiring her. I'm sure a couple of regulars here applied. Thank god that didn't happen. At least EK is a good evaluator of decent blogging.

I thank Carol for her quality of work, regardless if she gets paid by the site or not, its the quality and investigative work that she provides that I thank her for. I would say half of the bloggers provide little info on their respective team, but rather a biased approach to suspensions, salaries, management, etc. Carol deserves all our thanks, regardless if she gets paid or not, and if you don't think so, just go read another teams blog and you will quickly see the difference in quality.

I tried to start something with Don earlier but he didn't bite. Maybe codes will do me the honour.

Problem is I usually agree with what he posts.

Blue Jackets just bought Hartnell... I think he would be great for the kids.

we tend to agree on stuff more than not lol. I don't bite on stuff unless its an argument over fictional or fact based statements, in which I usually win, because the idiots on here who argue with me about that stuff have no idea that data actually exists for everything

Oiler's won't lose Draisaitl, so its a pointless offer sheet (like most offer sheets).

I figured Vancouver would be in on Anders Nillson, swede/Big goalie and young enough to beat markstrom out. I would be okay with him coming aboard.

I really hope we don't waste a contract on Gagner, the guys entire NHL career is a disappointment.

Carol will you be at UBC to watch prospects? If so, on Palmu, if you noticed on your blog video, we raised this end of last thread, he's been used on the point in PP. Could you ask if Palmu could be a PP QB option? Something that he could work on?

Plus we know of contract for Finish league which was done before draft. Maybe if he was passed over again. Is there an out clause where AHL would be an option now for Palmu? Will you be able to ask Canucks what they would want now after seeing him at development camp?
