Dmen can play well until around 32-ish. The cost must be cheap, Florida exposed Demers in the expansion draft and Tallon is getting rid of all the players the moneyball guys signed last year.

If they can move Tanev for a nice return then it makes a ton of sense.

Demers is actually pretty good lol. The 4.5 million cap hit for 3 years + his age scared me, BUT, playing on a defensively challenged team last year, he was very good.

When the owner of every team in the league is either a corporation(who are leaglly obligated to make the most money possible) and finance capitalist (Aqualini/Viola) it is definitely apart of the capitalist machine. Just because the workers have a union, doesn't mean it's not capitalism. Just because the businesses are sharing profits and have a cap, doesn't mean they aren't out to make the most they can.

Yeah, he's someone you can buy low on and he'd be a perfect stopgap to replace Tanev, and plus you can potentially flip him during the last year of his deal for another asset.

One can realistically hope so.
Asset management & cap control is looking better & better.
UFA signing or stop gap plugs will need to be shrewd moves.
Its one way to make gains over the many teams that r poorly positioned.

Though I highly doubt it, something like Tanev + Baerschi for Demers + Huberdeau saves them cap, improves their D but does lower their forwards. Something around that does make sense/ You could argue granlund in there over Baerschi but then it doesnt make sense for us anymore.
