question: who would be okay with Kadri instead of Bozak? - YouMeAndDupuis9
I would absolutely love to get Kadri but there is just no way that is happening. |

How many are even in the NHL now? 6? - j.boyd919
Not to mention the Pens just won back to back cups being the team with the 2nd least fighting majors both seasons and nobody fights in the playoffs because the games are too important. |

Cooling off Dubinsky and Wilson is all he needs to do.
It's not about staged fights - there aren't really any true goons left in the game, which is why Reaves is at the top of the heap as a functional hockey player who will beat the crap out of you. - hardnosed
Nobody is afraid of Reaves. He will prevent nothing. |

Last season, among players with 100+ PIMS, only 6 had less than 20 points.
Mark Borowiecki
Cody McLeod

Michael Haley
Matt Martin
Ryan Reaves
The others are
Wayne Simmonds - 54 pts
Dustin Byfuglien - 52 pts
Antoine Roussel - 27 pts (60 games)
Evander Kane - 43 pts
Andrew Shaw - 29 pts
Matthew Tkachuk - 48 pts
Zack Kassian - 24 pts
Dion Phaneuf - 30 pts |

Tom Wilson is better than Ryan Reaves lol - j.boyd919
Yes, he better. The Caps also drafted him in the middle of the first round. I didn't like the trade itself but I like having him on the team.
The Pens didn't get Reaves to fight. They got him to be a wrecking ball on the forecheck and crash the net. There is value to guys like that. Look at the impact Scott Wilson had against Ottawa when he started throwing the body. Reaves can play that role and dish out 10x the damage.
Big hits cause chaos, chaos causes turnovers and the Pens have a lot of players who can put a turnover in the back of the net. |

How many runs in the playoff does Tom Wilson do against our guys every year? 10 a series with usually 1 semi-serious injury and a few other guys missing the rest of the game. And they don't call the penalties. I'm perfectly fine with Reeves not fighting if it means if Wilson does a run against one of our guys then one of their guys has to take it. |

So first off this is confirmation bias and not actual data on how many runs Wilson takes. Secondly wtf is Reaves doing that is going to make this stop. Dude might get 6 mins a night in the playoffs... |

Wilson will create twice as much offense (20-25 pts versus 10-15). Takes a lot more penalties (many dumb) and is a lot smaller (6-4 210 versus 6-1 225). But essentially we brought in Tom Wilson with a better head. |

No we didn't. A lot of guys said picks 20-60 talent wise was all a crapshoot this year. You could just as easily argue we got him for prospect destined to be a 4th line center. We only traded down in the draft 20 picks (though admittedly looks like we took a 3-5th round guy there). |

Did you take a poll? That's hilarious.
"Ryan is a guy that, when he's in your lineup, people take notice," head coach Mike Sullivan said. "One of the tactics that teams deploy against us is they try to be physical, they try to bang us, slow us down.
"I think Ryan can help us with a little bit of pushback in that regard." |

And the FO is pretty clear that the exact reason they went after Reaves is because he's NOT a liability. |

The fancy stats guys just use that draft crapshoot stuff when it serves them, and ignore it when it doesn't. Like the aging curve crap.

It's lunacy.
Carolina acquired
Marcus Kruger, Trevor Van Reimsdyk and Scott Darling
For:
Second round pick (62 overall), a 3rd round pick, and a 5th round pick.
And the Penguins gave up a 1st and Oscar Sundkvist for Ryan (frank)ing Reaves and a 2nd.

He is, though.
Jim Rutherford is a pretty good GM a lot of the time.
He also is entirely too loyal to his players sometimes and makes a lot of boneheaded decisions in attempts to make them feel comfortable. You gotta have somebody else there with him to tell him no on some things. |
