Not a good way to acquire our 3rd C. Don't trade a warrior like Hörnqvist just like that. I'd rather trade Sheary if he's asking for too much. Sheary is good @ $2.5-3M at most. - Barnaby36
I liken Horny as much as the next guy. But you gotta give to get. I'd bet he has more value on the market than Sheary and he's a western conference type player. But my suggestion was more about acquiring Sobotka not what we'd give up. |

He just came back the end of this past season with the blues and signed a 3 year extension. I wouldn't trade horny for him
Edit: Doesn't mean I wouldn't take him though |

Says the one posting tweets about how often Ryan Reaves hits certain players like there was some kind of a point. About as useless as a Reaves/Doan hero shart comparison. You're like a toddler with something shiny - show you a number and you're all drool and diaper rash and unintelligible words.
Reaves can fight. Like, he's pretty much the best guy out there right now. Doan? Not so much. He's willing to get his face bashed in, but there's a big difference. Bottom line is that if Dubinsky or Wilson take liberties, they'll be answering to Reaves. - hardnosed
He has been in 10 fights the last 2 seasons and only 1 was against a player that belongs in the NHL. I bet you think him fighting a goon is making a difference. |

Reaves can be a regular 4th line guy without giving up anything. The guy can play a bit.
Btw What would it take to get Nyquist or Tatar? Lol no we don't Want Green.
Congrats on the Daley signing. Great guy to have. |

Daley sucks. You don't have the assets for Nyquist or Tatar. Try AA maybe. |

Daley doesn't suck man. He's a good player. Nyquist is probably easier to acquire than Tatar. We have the goods. |

Let's hear your theoretical offer so I can get in a good laugh before I head to bed.
And Daley is a 4 at best. All he is going to do is take away ice time from kids that need it. |

Daley will be of good use for sure. Nyquist I'd probably give up Sheary (if he's asking for too much from us)+ prospect + pick. Decent offer.
Nyquist can play C too.
All Swedish line Hagelin-Nyquist-Hornqvist. |

So why acquire him? Do the Red Wings have the speed to take advantage of what Daley offers? |

Nyquist is not a center.
Your offer is vague as (frank).

Because Ken Holland is a (frank)ing moron and the worst GM in the league. Hence why they currently have 6.22m in cap space to sign Tatar, AA, and add a forward from GR. |

He is listed as a C too...but I trust your judgement.
My offer was vague because I was thinking What a 12 gola scorer would get.
Andreas Athanasiou is a C? 3rd line? I know he has speed but can he play a good two way game? |

He can play center. His defense isn't strong but it isn't terrible. Dude needs sheltered zone starts but he is a lethal scorer. |

Sheary for Athanasiou would be a start in case we don't like Conor's asking price |

Hiya everyone. Long time reader, first time poster. I've been reading a lot about the concerns we have at 3C and LW. I know we have a bit of a hole at 4D, but I'm not too unhappy with what we have so far. What do you guys think it would take to acquire not only Bozak, but JVR as well? Do you think giving up something like Maata, Sheary, Pouliot+ gets it done? Then signing Jokinen to 4C (utility). Lines could look like
Guentzal - Crosby - Hornqvist
JVR - Malkin - Rust
Hagelin - Bozak - Kessel (HBK!!!)
Wilson - Jokinen - Reeves
At that point we have something around maybe 5 mil to resign Dumo and potentially grab another D for 3rd pairing pretty cheap.
P.S. Please be gentle, remember this is my first time |

JVR's gonna want 6 million on his next contract and we won't have the cap, so not interested
I don't really think Bozak is a solution long term because I see him wanting 5-5.5 million per beyond next year. For this year, yes, but only at rental prices and I don't see the Leafs selling that low on him
Ideally I want someone locked up for this year and next, under 3 million who comes out of it as an RFA
I think we really missed out on Gagner given he signed for 3 x 3 million

There was a time when I really wanted JVR, but that time was a while a back. Now we have a good pipeline of wingers. I don't want to expend too many assets on a winger that's probably valued pretty highly by his organization and will want a big extension.
If Bozak doesn't cost too much, I'm totally in. Remember, he only has one year of term left. Don't want to sell the farm.
Holy poop good call on HBK. Didn't even realize that.

I wasn't looking at them being UFAs next year, so that was kind of short sighted on my part. Potentially bargaining with TOR considering they are almost $4 mil over the cap right now, but I see what you're saying.
Definitely missed the boat with Gagner |

JVR wouldn't be a necessity, but more of a luxury. I'd be ok if they just acquired Bozak, but obviously changing what's going back.
I was a bit giddy when I realized HBK a few days back. |

I'd be a little concerned, but I'd have to agree with one of the posters earlier that our D isn't terrible right now. I don't think Cole is 2nd pairing at all, but he and Schultz seem to hold their own pretty well. I'm also not too worried with Dumo and Tanger. Obviously if we traded Maata it would seem dry for our bottom pairing, but a potential FA signing for a 3rd pairing RHD wouldn't be out of the question. |
