He didn't score more than 10 playing in juniors this season.
Everyone is excited about Barzal, and I personally think he's gonna be a really good player, but let's stop saying he's better than established NHL stars because that's utter nonsense. - eichiefs9

Here is where we disagree... Duchene is not an "established NHL Star". |

He's definitely established. He's been in the league for 8 years. What is your definition of "NHL Star"? |

A guy with Heart to start. A guy who actually back checks once in a while maybe. Perhaps a guy who was not - 34 last year? You think that is a "Star" than Brock nelson is a Super star. |

Hamonic was -21 last year...what does that make him. Elite?
Jesus christ man, +/-? Thats a star category for you? Ovechkin must have been a bum to you for 3/4 of his NHL career if you look at that |

Someone who scores exactly 1 point playing in 10 games for Team Canada in the world cup this summer is not a "STAR" to me.. He would not be a star to you either if He was an Islander. That is the funny part. You are beyond critical of Isles players but fail to see any other player in the same light. Until He is an Islander. I don't want this guy anywhere near the Islanders. Let Sakic and the Avs rot with him. |

You're right.. Duchene is the best. Unless you get a top pairing 24 year old D-man you should keep him. (by the way.. You won't) |

DId duchene run over your dog? Why the hate for him. Hes a good player on a bad team last year. And youre saying hes basically worthless bc he had down stats for the 1st time in his career on one of the worst cap era teams?
I have always said Hamonic was a good player but not the kind of guy the Avs want. Chill out man
Also not once has have ive said Top Pairing Dman....Its a young established Dman. Reading comprehension my friend, its a tough one I know |

So your idea of a star is a Selke finalist. If that's your idea of a star then that's your criteria. I tend to think that a guy that has a career .73ppg average with multiple 50+ point seasons and all-star game appearances is a star. Don't get this confused with super-star. |

I'm beyond critical of Isles players? I bash on Bailey for his complete lack of defense (because he stands in the d-zone and waits for a teammate to get the puck). Nelson for his avoidance of contact. Strome for his underachieving play. Who else have I been "beyond critical" of? And i guess I'm the only one who criticizes players too. I've knocked the hell out of Zippy the chimp, the owners and Snow.
And yes, I would consider Duch a star on the Isles. |

None of these arguments would be happening if the Avs would trade Duchene for Bailey.
I'd love to have Duchene on the Isles, but I would not give up Barzal for him when Duchene can walk in two years. I do not see a real match with the Avs unless they want a dman like Toews or Wotherspoon in a package? |

I dont know if Barzal is a target or not, It all depends on what the D target is.
Only 2 Targets I can imagine from the Islanders is De Haan but would ask for a better prospect or Pulock.
But if Snow (I assume) was only really interseted in trying to package up Hamonic who I would also assume was set on trading no matter what, Snow really wasnt a player for Duchene from the get go |

There's definitely not a fit with the Islanders anymore.
Hamonic is gone and they can't afford to lose any other defenseman at this point because they have nobody else that can step in. Pulock's already going to be shot into a big role as a rookie, they can't afford to have to call-up Toews and bank on 1/3 of their defense having little-to-no NHL experience and expect to have a decent season.
I've moved on from Duchene and, while it's just my opinion, I get the feeling the Islanders probably have too and I think that's the correct decision. |

Until he became an Islander. Then you would see he is FAR worse in his own end than Bailey. You would look at his production getting worse and scoff at him. You would bring up that he was awful in the IIHF this summer to further that point.
You mock Nelson for non contact.. Duchene hits people? Duchene crashes the net? Duchene goes into corners? You would hate him on the islanders.
