So your idea of a star is a Selke finalist. If that's your idea of a star then that's your criteria. I tend to think that a guy that has a career .73ppg average with multiple 50+ point seasons and all-star game appearances is a star. Don't get this confused with super-star. - Isleshockeyman
You just admitted you trash Isles players like Bailey and Brock for exactly what I am critical of Matt Duch. Is Bailey a star b/c he had a 50 point season? How about Strome? would you call them stars? nelson had 3 20 goals seasons in a row.. star?
Explain to me how Duchene the star got 1 friggin point in 10 games of the IIHF. That is an extremely talented team.. no? Brock got 7 points in 8 games on the U.S. team.
You can sht on me all you want. I think Sakic.. and every Av fan on here has a highly inflated opinion of Duchene. He has some offensive skills.. definitely. He is a very good face off guy.. yep. He doesn't play defense at all. He is awful in his own end. He avoids contact. he has zero grit and heart.

There's definitely not a fit with the Islanders anymore.
Hamonic is gone and they can't afford to lose any other defenseman at this point because they have nobody else that can step in. Pulock's already going to be shot into a big role as a rookie, they can't afford to have to call-up Toews and bank on 1/3 of their defense having little-to-no NHL experience and expect to have a decent season.
I've moved on from Duchene and, while it's just my opinion, I get the feeling the Islanders probably have too and I think that's the correct decision. - eichiefs9
I agree, that ship has sailed, the fit isnt there anymore. Unless Snow can use those picks to get another Dman, I think its dead in the water.
I do think Columbus and Carolina makes the most sense.

Didn't you have a cup winning team and traded away guys like Seguin, Hamilton, and Boychuk for nada? Okey dokie.. good talk. - niteislander
Key part of this phrase being "a cup winning team"
I would be quite happy to win a cup, regardless of who my team traded away afterwards. 1983 was 34 years ago, I'm sure you would too. |

Yeah thats not really true at all, thats your opinion fine, but making claims like that 90% of Avs fans would disagree with watching him over the years...I think you might be in the wrong here.
Is he a selke nominee... no but hes not some lost puppy in the defensive end.
Is Tavares soft with no grit and heart bc him and duchene had the exact same amount of Hits in the same amount of games last year? |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmfeXUvBZ5w Here is Matt Duchene. He gets crushed and gets up meekly and skates away. This would be a lot of fun to watch every game. - niteislander
so a guy gets hits...doesn't get emotional taking a bad penalty, gets up and goes back to his positional spot in his own end vs chasing a guy around?
Wow hot take |

There was a delayed penalty being called. Of course the smart thing to do after getting hit cleanly would be to take a retaliation penalty negating the call?

A) Yeah i do crush Bailey. Nelson, not nearly as much. As a matter of fact, that just started the other day when Sparti called Nelson a power forward. I said i wanted him to start using his size more to his advantage. If you actually read any of my (frank)ing posts, i said i wanted him to go to the front of the net to create screens, tip-in chances and bang home rebounds. I also said i DIDN'T want him crashing the corners or dropping the gloves. If Bailey or Nelson put up multiple 50-60+ point seasons constantly, then yes, I'd call them stars too. Quit trying to twist my (frank)ing words to suit your thoughts about Duch.
B) IIHF - I've never mentioned anything about it. Good or bad. So don't sit there and tell me how I always praise this or that about it.
C) Not once have I sh!t on you. Not once. So knock off your (frank)ing little whoa-is-me pity party. Every teams fan base has some form of over-inflated opinion or over-values certain players (Avs fans, I'm not calling you guys out). That includes us as Islanders fans. Duch will never win the Selke but at least he hustles back to the D-zone. Unlike Bailey who just glides along hoping not to have to make it all the way back. |

A guy with Heart to start. A guy who actually back checks once in a while maybe. Perhaps a guy who was not - 34 last year? You think that is a "Star" than Brock nelson is a Super star. - niteislander
