He really was a special talent....and the loss set the Flyers back and changed the trajectory of the organization. - landros 2
The Flyers probably don't acquire Luke Schenn and probably don't acquire Andrew MacDonald if Pronger doesn't get hurt. |

Probably not. They also may have at least gotten to the SCF in 2012 had Pronger not gotten hurt. His ability to control the play in all 3 zones cannot be understated, and their inability to contain NJ in the defensive zone was their undoing that year. |

The crazy level in the Pens series would have gone up by a million if Pronger had played. |

As expected, Hextall vehemently denied that second overall draftee Nolan Patrick is a virtual lock for an NHL roster spot this season. Hextall told Isaac that he would not consider it a disappointment if Patrick wound up assigned back to Brandon. - bmeltzer
If Patrick (along with Lindblom) can't make THIS team, it's a huge disappointment on multiple levels regardless of what Mr. Hextall says. The team has holes up front even if both rookies do make the club out of camp. |

It already was, too. Which is insane. I'll never forget that series and the game that ended the season with Hartsy pulling a Hulk Hogan to the crowd. Great times. If Giroux was taking Crosby out that series, I can't imagine the damage Pronger would have done. |

How many fortnights are left in the season?
Also, are we taking postseason play into account? |

I am glad every player on the Flyers wears a visor now. They won't stop everything, but they lessen the odds of another disastrous injury like the one Pronger suffered. |

I was at the game, and we had no idea what had actually happened. I was calling my friend and he told me it looked like another Berard. Maybe, MAYBE, if he'd a longer time off to be symptom-free he could have resumed his career. Shame, he was an absolutely fantastic player even late in his career.
Edit: I forgot that he almost died when he took a slap shot to the heart. - jmatchett383

If we are going with top 5 all time fave Flyers:
1. Bobby Clarke
2. Bernie Parent
3. Tim Kerr
4. Mark Howe
5. Kimmo Timonen
re Patrick: barring injury, he will be in the opening day lineup.
re Pronger: truly sucks the way it ended, when healthy he could control a game like no other Dman in Flyer's history not named Mark Howe. He was that good.

Pronger's injury will always be in my mind "we were so close to winning a cup" |
