i think mackinnon and is $6.3M deal is a good comparable. he averaged .71 pts/game. but over a larger sample.
i could see it being $6.1M to $6.5M for 7 years based on that deal. - Tumbleweed
This is what I was thinking it would be... something around 5-6 years for $6.5m. Doesn't seem like it's heading that way now. If they're discussing 8 years, they'll surely need to pony up some more money. |

even that seems high to me, based strictly on the mackinnon deal.
$6.5M should buy you 7 years.

I'm guessing if they are talking an 8 year deal, the final total will likely come somewhere between 54 and 58M for 8 years. (6.75 - 7.25M AAV). That's probably what it is going to take to make this deal work. - dothedougie
I think you're right on with the money... if it's going to be an 8 year deal, then they'll probably come in right around $7m. I still think it's a foolish move to hand a 21 year old with one great season, who had the benefit of playing on the best line in hockey, essentially the biggest contract on your team. I love Pastrnak, but if he wants that much money then he better put up 30+ goals and 70 points every single season. |

My thought is that after one good year, Sweeney should do the same thing with pasta that the kings did with Doughty. Give him the money, but dont give him any NTC or NMC. If he flounders, he can be moved. |

it should, but JP Barry is the holdout specialist. I would give pasta 8 years at 7M. No performance bonus's for the the first half of the contract, and no NTC or NMC. If he wants protections or more bonus money, he can come down on the price. |

Had the chance to catch the first game of the Prospects Challenge between the Bruins and Penguins this afternoon. Can't wait for the season to start so channeling my energy into this take:
The standouts were Studnicka, JFK, and Gabrielle (netted the gamewinner in overtime) not just because they were the three who scored but because they looked to be the most competent and energetic offensive players consistently during the game. Studnicka in particular looks like he is going to be a dangerous player who isn't afraid to shoot. JFK had a lot of ice time. He had some bad turnovers at times, but he is a smooth skater and made his presence felt especially late in the game.
Heinen got pushed off the puck pretty easily throughout the game, but he wasn't a total bust. Senyshyn, on the other hand, looked bad. It is just one game, and I don't want to judge him on a small sample size, but man he stunk. He seemed to be out of position, skating into weird spots (into his own players even) and making bad decisions with the puck. Short passes into people's skates and such.
For the D-Men, Lauzon, Grezlyk (sp) and Johansen seemed to make the strongest impression. Lauzon looks like a good skater and puck handler. Grezlyk was QB on the powerplay which looked strong and Johansen just seemed to make good plays in general. Zboril was in the line-up, I think, but barely played.
Bjork and MacAvoy did not play from what I could tell.

Thanks for this.
Was hoping to hear better things about some of the guys.
I really want Debrusk and Senshyn to pan out.

Yeah, I've been hopeful about both of those guys too. A year in Providence will do Senyshyn good I think. |

Hope he goes and plays for SKA with Datsyuk and Kovy. Get paid bank and learn all sorts of sick moves. Then he can come back and Sweeney can trade him for garbage and we can watch him dominate the league. |

Debrusk is gonna be good. Not spectacular, but a real solid player. |

I feel like if they wait they can do better than Duchene. I'm thinking big here. Like Evander Kane, Danny Kristo or Nail Yakupov!!
EDIT: Maybe, just maybe if they add another piece the Bruins could land.....Louis LeBlanc

Meh.
Gotta go with McAvoy on that one. With that hair. He just looks uppity. I don't even need to have any evidence of it.
Either that or he's Max Sauve enough to pork someone's wife. |
