Just asking because I don't know, but is Pastrnak worth throwing out that kind of money after only 1 really good season? This sounds like a great way to put your team into cap hell with deals like this.
I can't imagine he'd get what he's looking for in the open market. Wouldn't a bridge deal like 4 years @ $6-6.5M per be more than fair? |

Doesn't really deserve more than $6.5m... maybe $7m at the absolute max. Would have preferred a shorter deal... 5 or 6 years for $6.5m or so. I think it's a dumb idea to give a 21 year old winger with one legit NHL season of production under his belt $7.5m+ for 8 years.
I think Pastrnak can be great... He might put up 70 point perennially, but I think there's also a chance he doesn't put up 70pts every year. How is $7.5m going to look 2 years down the road if he scores 50/60 points? Not so hot... Especially if Bergeron and Marchand are still producing more or similarly to him.
Bruins are caught between a rock and a hard place with this one. They have to pay him... I just hope he lives up to it... every year. |

If you look at his rookie and sophomore season he was averaging .5 ppg with limited playing time which is pretty solid so id say its a little better than one really good seasons. However the issue is the bruins are trying to buy into his UFA years without paying the premium to do so. So either they have to shorten term to stay at the 6 mill price or increase the amount to account for the added value of the UFA years. I think 8 yrs 7 mill is gonna be the magic number |

I agree except i think 3 years would be better as he still would be a rfa. If he thinks he is that good then he could cash in, mayby its his agent wanting a big commission before he retires.

Bridge deal for 3 years would be the best for both at this point.
Bruins would see how he did, if he scored 35-40 goals each year then
he's worth big money anyway...
For Pastrnak he won't get the money he wants from them long term,
so he could go 7.0-7.5 for 3 years.
Tarasenko 7.5 million for this the last 3 years (Pastrnak has one good year):

37 36 73
40 34 74
39 36 75 |

The problem is that if they sign him for a three year bridge deal, (which would never be 7 million per year because that just doesn't make any sense) then if he puts up three solid seasons, he will be looking moreso at a 9-10 million dollar contract with the way things are going + inflation.
I don't think we need to doubt Pasta being a minimum 60 point per year player for 8 years, I just don't think anyone outside of the top few elite players in the league should be making over 8 million per year. The Draisatle contract is just a horrible indicator of what contracts should be. Did not deserve more than Johansen at all.
Hopefully Pasta signs a contract for the same as Bergeron's. Around 6.8 or so for 8 years is reasonable and gives a little extra help moving forward and keeping around other youthful prospects. |

Rumours that he is a party boy/locker room cancer/bad attitude/doesn't listen, will be released shortly depending on whether he signs for 6 x anything in the next few days. If he signs he is dedicated disciplined enthusiastic & amazing locker room presence. |

Calligula, Puljujaaarvi and a 3rd for Pasta, Chara, Beleskey and Chiarelli has to make himself available in Boston so we can line up to one punch him in the face. |

Then Puljujaarvi will have a 30 goal season, and we can trade him for pucks. |

He said Nugent-Bustkins... We already have that wussy. His name is Ryan Spooner. - glove_was_stuck
Watch Spooner put up his normal 40 points this year and Sweeney wont even hesitate with a 6year 33M contract for him.
20-50 points is ok. But if you put up more than 50 points, negotiations are going to get tricky. |

This is Bruins Hockey. So what's the media spin going to be?
-He's a coke head?
-Selfish, uppity kid. Bad locker room guy?
-(frank)ed someone's wife?
-Pill problems?
-He didn't want to be here?
-Disappears in the playoffs?
-All of the above? |
