How young was the Carolina defense? Trying to remember but they iced a really young top 6.

I just think for where the Flyers are it's OK to let these guys play. Especially since I think next year is the true start to becoming a legit contender continually.

Pesce and Slavin were 21 and Hanafin was 19

It is certainly a good example, but it is worth noting they had (I believe) 2 guys go down for the year in the preseason and both Pesce and Slavin playing in the AHL that year

You may not have seen it ever, but I don't know if a team has ever stock-piled highly touted defensive prospects like the Flyers have, which is mostly because they were horrible about growing them and needed to rebuild the back-end. Not many team have that issue.

Carolina had 3 rookies on their blue line last year. Jacob Slavin, Noah Hannifin, and Brett Pesce

Slavin and Pesce and Hanifin weren't rookies last year. They all played 60+ games in 15-16.

Well then the answer is Carolina 2 years ago.

As you know...my history of the Flyers is much shorter than yours. I have no idea where he would rank on a list, probably not on it, but I think Provorov is one of the best hitters. Not because he lays people out, but just that it seems like every time he uses his body on a guy, it is done with an incredible amount of purpose.

He would already be on or near the top list of smartest hitters for the reasons you stated, but not on the overall top 10 hitters list. Not enough frequency or ferocity to make that list.

Yup. Their top 6 was three rookies and three vets (Faulk, Hainsey and Liles).

My bad. 2015/16 is still last year in my world.

They also had Ryan Murphy, who had experience (80ish games) but was still just 22
