Foo and Poirier?

Are they looking AHL bound?

with how Jankowski is playing, let them both go to the AHL. It won't hurt either of them

Foo could stick around, I think, but Poirier seems AHL bound.

I think Foo will get some games.....hopefully with Bennett and Versteeg so we avoid Brouwer with them haha.

From what I have seen of Brouwer, those 8 pounds he dropped have not really helped with his hockey.

He should try cocaine... worked for most of the 80's Oilers.

Janko is looking pretty good. Would like to see him get some minutes with Backland and Frolik as both those guys are good cerebral 2 way players that could teach him a lot.

I really like that new poster Dragon4U.

lol there is a couple new parody accounts in the Canucks blog, trying to drive out some of the posters that don't really get along with others.

I think Jankowski needs to be rewarded, he did his time in the AHL, and he is proving that he can play in the big leagues.

PS - I apologize in advance for any negativity you get from any Canuck posters regarding Shink on waivers. You lose some, and you win some. Nothing more.

I understand the reasoning behind it for Calgary though. Getting a younger, talented, homegrown forward prospect for Granlund makes sense. Like I said before though, you win some and you lose some. Poirier and Shinkaruk and Wotherspoon on waivers is really just a testament to the progress of your other prospects in Jankowski/Foo/Anderson/Kulak/Kylington.

Thought it made no sense at the time...was a no brainer for the Canucks to make that deal. Next player to get waived, Lazar.

Yeah the Flames are pretty loaded on the back end...especially with Valikmaki too...I just wish they could get something for Wotherspoon haha.

The top 9 is too loaded as well. Shink just doesn't have the jam.

hindsight is 20/20, and I don't think the majority of fans on either team thought it was a smart move by the Canucks at the time.

Shinkaruk was always a perimeter player, even in junior, but you can't cheat or play that type of game in pro. It doesn't help that he is pretty undersized.

Exactly and that's why he dropped so far on draft day...only confirmed in the time the Canucks had him. Granlund on the other hand has more size and more grit. Why they gave up on him after he made the team is baffling.

Grit??? What were you watching? Back then Granlund wouldn't have had the opportunity he has gotten in Vancouver either, chances are if we kept him, he would have been press boxed. Hindsight in these situations is pointless.

its hard not to look at a player that you traded for put on waivers as a fail, but it truly is just a indicator of the progression of other prospects. Hard for Treveling not to take a risk on an undersized scorer when you have a pretty good example of one in Gaurdreau on your team lol.

Granlund doesn't really have grit. He will go into the corners, and he is a decent net front presence, but he doesn't really scream grit with his play.

Means he's not afraid to go the tough areas.

IMO that's exactly what grit is. He's not afraid. Shinkaruk doesn't like the tough areas.

fair enough. Foo more than makes up for the loss of Shinkaruk though.

If I recall we had been man handled by the ducks in playoffs.

With guys like Monahan, JG, and Bcakland who don't have much bite, and not having much prospect depth at wing, it was worth the gamble.

Where would Granland slot in today? Maybe on the 3rd line wing? But realistically the Flames are already full of undersized talented guys.

I agree with three players waived, not one of them looked like an NHL player last night. I think Lazar should go too. Sadly I thought it was a toss up between Kulak and Bartkowski, for who was better. I guess given the advanced stats, I can be convinced Kulak was.
