In my view even if they haven't outplayed any of the veterans they should make the team because they've shown they're NHL ready. The difference, if there even is one, is not going to elevate the team. In other words this team isn't a contender and keeping a veteran over a rookie isn't going to elevate the team. Nor is keeping a rookie over a veteran going to keep the team from contending . So let's get the future started. We'll see what they do. - MJL
Agreed. At some point, they need to see Morin in a sequence of gsmes in the regular season

And I really don't want to hear some BS statement like they sent them down to see how they would respond.....

This is absolutely correct. Also why many of us will be upset/disappointed if the organization doesn't go that route. They deserve criticism for it imo.
But let's see what happens.

I mean, this isn't Luke Schenn playing 82 games at 18 years old and not reslly developing much more
Morin has played multiple full seasons in the A. I am not saying he is completely ready...but no one ever is. I think we all kniw that he is probably as good as Manning, and even if he plays just five or six games in a row and you have to send him back, at least he knows, and everyone sees, what isn't translating to the NHL level in the regular season |

Weise is just brutal! I don’t understand how Lindblom could be any worse then him out there. |

After reflecting on Morin and Sanheim in game they weren't even in, I've decided to give Chris Pronger the last spot on this team. U |

The way Konecny has played this pre season, putting him on a 3rd line with Filppula and Weise is just a bad decision. |

Weise looked so bad today, if it was me, I would promite Raffl in his slot, dress Read and scratch Weise

Weise really has looked like a player on another level this preseason. A lower level. He seems to have no note worthy talent at this level. He isn't a good defender, checker, passer, shooter, skater, net presence, or any other thing you can name. I believe that he thinks the game too slowly, because he certainly seems to coast and/or keep pace with the play at best, despite being a decent straight line skater. He looks like a second line AHL forward or fourth liner in the NHL. I really wish I had seen more of him in Montreal, where he actually produced offensively. Although I seem to remember he was slotted higher in the lineup because they lacked a big body on the PP and first line.

So. Remove the lindblom sanheim and morin and the team produces a loss which reminds me of many losses last year. It can't hurt to let the kids who are ready develop in the nhl.

Has a team ever started a season with 5 of 6 starting defensemen who have fewer than 145 games of NHL experience? I don't believe so, but am not sure. I do think, even if GM and coach won't say it, that it figures into final roster. Not saying it should be a determining factor, but I do think it is something that was discussed.

Carolina is going pretty young on D, they did last year as well(outside of Hainsey who got traded to PIT of course). |

That's an interesting observation. I thought they got the better of play in the first but once the Fishsticks got up on them early in the 2nd, they largely rolled over and looked sloppy at times. |

It is a likely factor in their decision making process. I think it's something they should get over and look towards the future. |

I figured as much, that they are just nervous about just how young you can go, but this is a new era in the league. Man, I don't know that Sanheim and Morin are ready. I don't.
But my gosh. This is a young man's league, a skating league. I would have to play them in real games and see what's up, because what good does it do to keep doing what you have already done?
If they struggle, send them back. But if they are scared of losing Manning on waivers, man, I don't even know what to say

Waive and demote MacDonald. If any of the young defenseman falter, you can call him back up.
