How happy is Matt read knowing he just has to skate to general areas of the ice in order to make the team? |

Ghost is injured? - Crimsoninja
Shayne Gostisbehere left Sunday’s exhibition finale with an upper-body injury believed to be a head injury after getting sandwiched by New York Islanders defensemen Dennis Seidenberg and Thomas Hickey.

I don't get not playing Lindblom the last few games. If they were sure he wasn't making the team then why not send him to the Phantoms sooner so he could have gotten in several preseason games with them. with 2 d roster spots open it goes to say Hagg and one of Sanheim/Morin was going to make the team. once again why aren't they in the lineup so they can battle for the spot? and i sure as poop won't be happy if Morin or sanheim is a healthy scratch. |

I just find the way some of the dealing with fans has gone on - to be kind of insulting.
Hell even I buy tickets once a year to support them. Most people though spend some of their hard earned money on the franchise because it's an interest in their lives.
Being so closed to any real questions by the media, and everything is run in such secrecy. I know they get a lot of money from other avenues but it's a little frustrating as a fan. Someone else said it here tonight, but the vibe is very much becoming : "this is what we do, don't ask questions - just shut up, pay up and trust us.
Again - I love a lot of what Hex has done but if this poop comes to pass that worthless vets are playing instead of more youth he deserves to be questioned.

If they didn't want to start 3 rookie defensemen, they should have given Morin, Hagg and Sanheim some playing time when they fell out of the (frank)ing playoff race in November last year - PhillySportsGuy
The thing of it is this, for me: Obviously, I am one of the more impatient people, as far as believing teams should be aggressive in competing for the playoffs every season. I realize that isn't always the best for the long term, but I believe in doing whatever you can.
But the Flyers have adopted a draft-and-develop approach, which I understand -- I mean, I'm not stupid, you know? I can look around the league and realize that, with a few notable exceptions, this is a young man's league that is now based on speed, and since the Flyers didn't have much of either in their prospect pipeline, they were going to have to draft players and we'd have to wait a few years.
Again: I'm not stupid. None of them were ready off the hop; all needed time. And I understand that not all players develop at the same pace.
Personally, for how I'm wired, I think I have been pretty patient. I do believe all prospects are suspects until they make it, so I do have some patience.
And even now, if they sent Sanheim back, I'd understand. I said so earlier today.
Morin is the one I have an issue with. Not because he's an elite prospect, but because at some point, you need to play the guy in the NHL for a sequence of games so he sees what it is -- he's a defensive defenseman.
He's not gonna learn how to make plays faster, more crisply, against NHL speed when he keeps playing in the AHL at AHL speed. He's already done that.
I am not saying that a player like Morin is a difference-maker like a Provorov or potentially Sanheim.
But if he's already comparable, not a downgrade, to Manning or potentially AMac, WTF.
He doesn't have to play every game. He doesn't have to be up all season.
But if he plays well enough to break camp, then play him 4-6 games in a row so the kid actually learns something.
Again, I'm not trying to rush Morin. I'm not saying the guy is the next coming of Derian Hatcher.
I'm saying that right now, for this season...I mean, damn. He needs to see NHL players and systems in NHL games. It doesn't have to be all the games, but he probably needs to see some, in a row.
I don't think that's crazy, given how he's played in the preseason |

It's absolutely mind boggling man. Why they don't think they can't use his size, reach, physicality. It just seems to ring true that every little mistake the young players make hextall has a (frank)ing button to lock that play in and mark it down as a negative. With lindblom hexy keeps talking about getting to the right spots. My eye is not as trained I guess so I'll trust him and I'll understand it because he is transitioning to the small ice. But for gods sake morin, I don't get it, and your absolutely right he won't get any better in the A. His learning curve should now continue in the nhl. Their worried about his breakouts. And I see it, I get it, but he's not going to get better at it if he's not playing at this level. Is this a bad time or something? What in gods name is wrong with trying him out now? |

The thing of it is this: I remember when Derian Hatcher was a rookie and raw. Chris Therien. Mike Rathje. Zdeno Chara.
Those guys all had the same issues that Morin will: Bigger guys need games at NHL pace before they get it down -- if they ever do.
Again, I'm not even saying that I know Morin is going to play for the next 15 years. I don't know that at all.
I just know that at some point, he's gonna have to get forechecked in NHL regular season games by guys who mean business, and it's not gonna get any better until you throw his big ass into the deep end of the pool and make him do it.
Again: I remember very well how Hatcher and Chara, etc., were. It takes time. Morin probably shouldn't play every game, either -- at some point, he likely would need to sit, or go down for a stretch.
But he isn't gonna learn how to play against dudes like Joe Thornton and Logan Couture down low in Allentown.
At some point, you gotta give these kids a shot if they've done multiple years of AHL time, just so they can learn a bit more even if they don't play all the games or stay the entire year |

Dunno, it takes a pretty special offensive talent to step in and score 50+ points right away, and I don't get the feeling that Patrick is at that level now. |

To be precise, I said "50-ish." That means it could be around 47 or so.
I want to believe this is gonna work. He's got linemates who can play; Weal carries the puck well enough...hey. I've been wrong before, will again.
But I think he's going to score some goals, once he gets acclimated to the speed. I think I see him figuring it out sometimes...he didn't play a ton last year, obviously.
I am hopeful that, if healthy, he just gets stronger and stronger over the course of the season |

Problem with this is we still are not sure what to expect from Weal this year. Either he steps up and continues his play like he did at end of last season, or he is the next Ville Leino. |

But the healthy scratch is also exact the reason for Lindblom.
It is good for him to know this feeling before he returns because certainly he will play
NHL in regular season this year but maybe only penciled in for 25 matches
