I take a lot of poop for my views. Hextall is in his fourth season as a first time GM and he's treated like everything he says and does is absolute gospel. This is a huge disappointment that Morin would be on edge of whether or not he makes the team on the last day of training camp. Sanheim I get, even though he's done more than enough to make the team too but Morin should be a stone cold lock. I think a lot of this influence comes from Hakstol. I honestly believe John Stevens is coming back within the next five years and we'll win when he takes over!!

I'm honestly disappointed!!

I think Hextall has done a great job rebuilding the farm system. I have not been a big fan of the trades and the signing of Weise. I'm not overly impressed with his coach, but that might have more to do with some of his personel decisions. I can probably still be won over if he wins...
I think the Flyers have a chance to be better, but to get there some of the talented youngsters have to make a mark with the big club. To me if the Flyers don't make the playoffs this year which looking at the roster may not be s stretch and struggle next year then I'll have seen enough of both coach and GM.

Something that's been missing in this entire narrative of Lindblom/Morin/Sanheim vs Read/MacDonald/Weise is that the fan base appears to have total and unconditional support of the former trio having their requisite struggles as rookies. Nowhere have I seen any mention on any blog or comment by a fan voicing some expectation that they will enter the picture and be superstars. We all appear unified in having grounded expectations and watching them learn the trade in the NHL and having some bumps in the road, rather than the retread trio. Our time, money, interest as fans are all finite and I'd much rather watch Lindblom's career trajectory unfold (however it unfolds) rather than the other gang.

So, to summarize, later tonight or tomorrow morning when I expect to read the platitudes by Coach and GM about the intangibles the veteran three bring as justification for the former's demotions, I'll plan on trying not to shatter my computer.

Agree. Part of it is the current trio are Fringe players. The guys coming in all have high, high upside. Also even yesterday Hextall even said....' you never really know if a rookie is ready". So....WTF. Let's go your route and find out.

Exactly. My only quarrel with your post is that "fringe" is too generous. Dale Weise is the most heartless Flyer since Kyle Calder....and I never thought he could be beat in that category.

One is making it on the opening night roster.

Ok good somewhere I must have misunderstood something. I would hope that they play as well and not just on the roster and sitting.

With all of the competition for roster spots this must be a good time to be writing and watching the team. I don't remember the last time I was this excited about the future of this team. I get there will be bumps along the way, but to me the future looks very bright.

I haven't been around much, how do you feel about the Schenn trade?

Sure...would love to. He brought nothing to the table last year. Zilch. He was the advertised upgrade/replacement for Ryan White. Don't get me wrong, I know exactly who White was and what he brought (and didn't). However, the guy played with heart. Was vocal of his allegiance to and pride in, playing for the Flyers. Weise doesn't skate well. Doesn't fight. Scores occasionally. Floats around. I want to vomit whenever I see him. The coup de grace is that he wears #22. Disgrace.

Hopefully that fleshes out what I meant by "heartless."

Really psyched that the season is almost here! Figure I'll watch the Eagles from 4 to 5 PM, then switch over to the Flyers when they start playing. Regular season starts on Wednesday at San José - 10:30 PM on the NHL Network. YEA!!!!

No news.....one of Sanheim or Morin....and likely Lindblom....appears to be the 'leaked" news....or fake news.

I felt like it was too soon and we're a better team with him than without. The PP already looks like it misses him.

I'll answer the question after the draft coming in June.

I mostly read the posts on here without much to say, as most of you say it anyway. That being said, has anyone brought up the idea that maybe Hexy is playing MacDonald and Manning to move one of them? I understand that no wants McD without salary retention, but do you guys think it would be easier to move him while he tools in the minors? I'm hoping that's the case, because the 3 kids have clearly outplayed the afformenriined two. Also, no one is planning any parades this year, so why not let the kids learn from their experience? Just a thought.

Hextall's drafting has been top notch but outside of this, I'm with you. I really liked the Coburn deal but even if we didn't get the overall second pick, Filppula for Streit wasn't a deal we had to make. The Schenn deal isn't one I would have made, good return seeping on how we use the Blues' pick. His signings have been awful.

Going off the board to get Hakstol in my mind was never a great move.

Has Hagg outplayed and looked better then either Morin or Sanheim to garner an automatic roster spot?

Also if Morin and Sanheim are going to be one of last roster cuts and one sent down, why would they not be in lineup tonight to battle it out and see? If they send one down and keep one, the one who is kept can't sit in the press box as the 7th d man, that would be absolutely stupid.
