Really you think he can get to a 2C. I thought he would be a good 3C at best. Somewhere in the 30-40 point range per season.

I’d get rid of Stecher in a heartbeat, the guy is a fire drill in his own end. Majorly overrated by HB posters.
- Makita

Agreed. The so-called new age nhl fans fall in love with anyone who can skate well and provide a little bit of offense. Most of them, don't seem to care if they can actually play in the defensive zone.

You could tie him to Hutton and move them both.

Actually I would call people with the courage to voice their opinions that don’t adhere to main stream brainwashing, (similar to what several of you guys here subscribe to) as free thinkers.

Stecher is severely overrated. As the season progresses you guys will fall in with the first guy like Vantel or Lefty that starts to criticize Stecher and *bam* it will be a thing that you all jump on.

When the entire D is trash, people will search through it looking for any sort of shiny object they can pawn. When you're broke and homeless and tweaking (like Canuck fans), even a measly loony for a broken watch or old radio is better than nothing.

You are correct there is a lot of brainwashing. But aren't you just being callous instead of courageous picking a well regarded player to lambast? Independent thinking is great but without objectivity it's just another form of popularism.

Stecher is a young feisty and offensive D man that battles and is improving his NHL game. He has had the confidence of both sets of his coaches and not someone the Canucks need to get rid of as you put it.

By the way it's not HB that overates Stecher. It's actually the trend here to follow posters and berate Canuck players and team in general when not each other.

I quite like that analogy, I can see why several people like mediocre players.

It's amazing how someone swallows Bannon style by touting that every other hockey league is inferior to their own experience of development. Thus they believe the NHL is in decline for accepting those players. Oh well objectivity is still something hard to grasp for those in the dark.

Interesting, I’ll start at the end of your post, Bullsh!t, the trend here is too over value Canuck players and the team in general. There are a few of us that will not just jump on the raw raw bandwagon because the players happen to be on the Canucks. Since you have joined these boards I would label you as a major Pom Pom guy, if someone doesn’t fall in line with your assessment of certain players they are labelled as complainers.

I have constantly criticized players that seem to be fan favourites, Stecher, Hutton, Baertschi, Granlund, even everyone’s next favourite one trick pony Horvat. I have called the players talentless from day one, only to receive your displeasure with my opinion.

Stecher is a fire drill, plain and simple, the guy can’t clear his zone to save his life. I am not a fan, have never been a fan.

OMG, I am callous because I can’t swallow your overrated opinion of a player that can’t play defense, but hey he’s popular so I should just be like the rest of you and swallow the hype.

Continue to wave your Pom poms and I’ll continue to be an independent thinker...

Sorry but your analogy misses the mark. We are Canadian and don’t follow the drama in your country

I'm just as Canadian as you...and the States is not my country. But if you want to faint ignorance at something not directed at you then that's fine.

Listen up Holmes, there is no need to “faint ignorance” I do not follow the drama in your country, I purposely do not watch news or listen to main stream media, I PVR all sports and listen to satellite radio.

You shouldn’t make assumptions that everyone follows the same way of life you have, again a independent thinker, thank god

Poor Not4U, has his knickers in a knot because Reuben questioned the NCAA college game and the European leagues as No hit leagues.
If someone doesn't follow the poor guys opinion then they must be a bannon swallower, whatever that is.

That's hilarious the only trend here is to attack anything Canuck to death. The voices like your own are actually the rule here to deride everything and anything. Don't equate the local fan base of casual fan observers as the HB poster.

Having objectivity isn't a spurious affliction of cheering. There are suggestions made not take it or leave it demands. The reality being proposed is it's not as bad as you make it out and try to look at all sides of the issue. But your reaction is visceral. Calling that as independent thinking opposed to pom poms is hypocritical at best.

No one overates anything Canucks on these threads. The popular thing is to ridicule as much as possible. You lead the charge there, as you say, so maybe you think you are free thinking in your popularism.

An independent thinker, which applies reason, would understand the team has flaws and a long way to go but appreciate the little things like player development.
